Disclaimer: I have been known to spend long hours around the shop with Noah and Adam so I may fall into the "LIC Fanboy category."
After years of being told by LIC they could fix my the stiction (aka the clunk) in my struts I finally went through with the work. At the same time Noah convinced me that this was the time to upgrade my springs, given the struts would be full off the car anyways. So Swift Spec-R springs were chosen and ordered.
Yesterday my car was delivered to the shop and they slaved away all day on my suspension work. When I picked it up at closing, I was very impressed. Not a noise to be heard from the struts, and the Swift springs had actually noticeably improved the ride and the handling seemed better too. My girlfriend who always *****es about the roughness of the STi's ride even commented how improved it was. I was extremely happy.
Fast forward to this evening. I took the car in laps around the business park I work at both forward and in reverse (when the car usually clunked more). Still not the slightest sound out of the struts. Then I decided it was time to properly see the handling improvements. I took the car out to a number of undisclosed Sonoma County back roads and tested things out. The increase in handling completely blew my mind. The best comparison I have of the improvement felt, is when I moved from my old Xterra to my former M3, or when I moved from the M3 to the STi. Imho, it is literally like driving a new car.
Anyways, a big thanks to LIC. I have yet to see anything less than top notch work from them, and their upgrade advice is always dead on.
/end rant

I've mentioned this but they got my car running for me and fixed the heads on my car and all for a reasonable price. It literally took me 4 months to try to figure out what was wrong but within a day or 2, they had the car running. I should have just brought it there to start with. Adam and Noah are a couple really cool guys and their work is very good. I know I'll be back there again if I ever need work done again.

well thank you all for your comments.
We have been fixing the stiction issue with the STi struts for years now (and at a nominal fee). The Sti struts are really good, why SOA choose to have an over damped strut with not enough spring rate...I'm not to sure to this day.
We have a lot of cars on the road with the "fix" to the struts, some with over 30k+ miles (and still no signs of any repeat symptoms).
Although I'd love to take credit for the Swift product(s) I can't; they speak and sell themselves; this is why LIC Motorsports only recommends Swift springs (either for your struts or coilovers), we run and use these products ourselves, both in our race car and street/track cars. They really are that good! And if they are good enough for those conditions they are good enough to recommend to customers
Here is an email I received from a customer on 11/06/08, (specs: 04 STi w/ 83,835 miles on car, had 5th gear grind and stiction issue):
Noah,
I had my sti in your shop for maintenance and I have to say that strut fix is pretty nice. The bit of stiction in there didn't bother me much, but it is completely smooth now.
I just want to let you know that I got the car up to NV and was able to run out 4th on some rural roads. I can hardly believe this, but try as I might I couldn't get 5th to grind. It didn't engage totally smoothly every time, but it 1000% better than it was with the redline gear oil. I'm pretty amazed with this swepco trick. It might save me going into the gear box.
Regards,
anonymous
Again thanks for the kind words STI-FTW and everyone else, we appreciate it!

Decided not to BBQ (didnn't want to ask for help, so why not cater it) but it should be decent food:
on the menu:
35 lbs of potato salad
250 crossiant sandwiches
200 turkey wraps
150 bags of chips
200 cookies
6 cases of beer (for those 21 and up)
6 cases of water/soda
LIVE DJ for all to enjoy
see you all soon!
