i'm guessing... the top rod just hold the shifter in place and lets it pivot. and the lower rod connects to the tranny in the back. isn't too different from how other trannys are connected. this one just has a longer linkage.

Yes exactly - it's a fancy stylized stabilizing bar and also the pivot point for the shifter. Haven't looked it up, but yeah - instantly recognizable by anyone that's into cars. Isn't it powered by an Audi 4.2L? Also, note all of the aircraft-inspired items on it - Spyker was a WW1 aircraft manufactrurer if I remember correctly...

The steering wheel is a nod to the original companies WWI heritage and is designed to look like a prop. It's ugly, but I get it.
