Hello,
I received this from Brian:
> We are offering open practice sessions for $16
> for 9 mins. and Sprint races for $35 dollars
> - 10 lap qualify then a 16 minute race!
Sounds like a great price. I'll be there soon.

Hello,
http://www.lemanskarting.com
And let me say this: HOLY COW! THAT PLACE ROCKS!
What do people hate most about speedring? The same thing they hate about all indoor kart places. When you get a little bit sideways, the kart bogs down and you get to play dork as you sit there, waiting for power to come back.
NOT SO AT LEMANS! Brian, one of the owners (and a faster driver around his own track than I am - though maybe he has extra experience
) was driving in my practice. I could see he wanted to pass, so I decided to be as "wide" as I could be. I pitched the kart a little and was totally happy when the throttle still worked! I had power and as soon as I stopped goofing, I could come right back on the power and drive straight.
Made it very easy to be wide
But he flew past as a yellow flag was ending and I never saw him again - he was about a second a lap faster after that.
Anyway, the course is far more technically challenging than Speedring and the karts are more powerful. I don't know that they're any faster at the top end (I was regularly doing 45 kph), but they have more grunt which is far more fun when you mess things up. And there are corners you have to sacrifice to get good speed into other corners, double corners that can't be driven as two seperate corners for fast times, etc.
I'm very happy with the place, AND they're cheaper than Speedring. $16 a session, don't forget to go to their webpage and get a coupon for buy one get one free of these sessions (only good this month). And Brian was telling me they're selling bulk tickets, too, $100 for 10 sessions.
Mmmm... fun...
Joel
BTW, I hate to admit that I'm slow, but in the session that went after me, there were a bunch of guys and two women. The whole group looked in their 40s and maybe a couple in their 50s, including the women. The slowest person in that group was about 0.25 seconds a lap faster than my fastest lap, and they were turning consistent laps much faster than my average lap.

This coming from the guy who rents cars and beats folks at the track... that's scary man... those people are fast!
