Le Mans Grand Prix!
Just wanted to let everyone know that next weekend, July 16-18, they will be having Le Mans at Sears. Here's the info:
"American Le Mans Series, presented by Napa Valley Marriott Hotel & Spa
July 16-18
History was made at the Infineon Grand Prix of Sonoma last season when Dyson Racing, led by drivers James Weaver and Butch Leitzinger, took the victory in the 2-hour, 45-minute sports car sprint race. It marked the first time in the history of the American Le Mans Series that a smaller LMP 675 beat the bigger, more powerful LMP 900. That same excitement will return to Infineon Raceway in 2004 with Audi, Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Dyson and others battling for supremacy on the traditional 12-turn, 2.52-mile road course. These are the same cars and drivers who compete in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in France each year, as well as the fastest cars to grace the Sonoma Valley circuit, with top speeds in excess of 180 mph. The paddock will be open all weekend, enabling fans an up-close look at these exotic cars and their drivers. The always-popular driver autograph session will take place on Saturday of race weekend, and there will also be a food and wine pavilion."
There is ticket information on the link below. Also, on July 16 (Friday) Dale Earnhart Jr. will be co-racing a C5-R. It's only $8 to watch on Friday.

Not to be mean or roast ya, but...
Actually Earnhardt Jnr. has been practicing a lot with road courses and Infineon especially as of late. He has been taught by the best such as Ron Fellows and Boris Said lots of times as he's really trying hard to improve his road circuit racing skills. During practice, he was even able to match the times of those of Ron Fellows in the C5-R. This guy knows how to handle the car just like the pros cause he's been at it for weeks or even months now. He's got relentless dedication IMHO.
Not to mention remember a couple of weeks ago at NASCAR at Infineon, he had a bad lick with the wall at first going against Robby Gordon, but came back in the top 10 before the race was over. Now call it all you want, but that's no cake to do! He was right there with Boris Said and Scott Pruett in the front pack.
Sorry if I offended you... all I'm saying is I think you should give Jnr. a little more credit because I must say, he's one of the most improved racers of this year overall and that includes road racing.
Dale Earnhart will do just fine. To race in nascar, you have to be a hell of a driver! Yes, most nascar races are done at a oval track, but there are a few road courses like infineon. And to take a stock car on a road course and have them perform the way these guys make them is simply amazing! Also, almost all of these guys that race in nascar have grown up racing go-karts and other cars on road courses. I'm just excited to see these cars in action!

So if Earnhart Jr. is so good at road courses, why does he use a hired gun for the road courses just like most all other NASCAR teams?
If Eanhart Jr's been practicing I have no doubt he will improve quickly, as he is still a VERY talented driver regardless of where he has raced in the past. However, as some NASCAR teams use like, local amatuers (I don't mean they suck, but just that they are not professionals) for the road courses, I don't see how the C5-R and Earnhart Jr. will be a match for LeMans' top drivers.
It's like, if NASCAR drivers started rally racing no doubt they would catch on quickly, but learning quickly doesn't stop you from getting your **** handed to you by Peter Solberg and the like
