LCD TV -- any advice?

I'm trying to stimulate the economy and the mind!

Looking to buy an LCD TV for work. It's purpose is to view HI-RES frames that are rendered in Adobe After Effects, Maya, or Silhouette.

Attention to detail is a must, so quality of the picture over anything else. Must be 1920x1080, and 32"-40" is ideal.

My price max is $1200.

I know I've seen panic lcd threads here in the past, but it's been a while and new stuff has hit.

Thanks d00dz

I got my 46" Sharp Aquos 1080p 120hz 1920x1020 for $1,140 a month ago

if you get a non 120hz model, you'll save a couple hundred bucks.

check slick deals for good prices

Buy from Costco!

You have to be a member (or know someone who has membership & would go w/ you ) & they have limited selections... BUT their 2 year warranty is FTW!!! Even manufacture warranty is usually only 1 year. Plus, they also have excellent return policy w/ NO stocking fee & NO question asked.

Make sure to talk to some people who know their stuff (I know someone who has been working for Magnavox for the past 5 years).

What you probably want is REALLY GOOD DARKS. I hope you understand why =P I dont have time to explain because i have to go to work, but if you invest in a TV, get one that has GREAT DARKS.

I thought they only do a 90 day return now, cuz all those *** that buy TVs before the super-bowl then return em the day after. No joke, I was in there the DASB and there were atleast 25 40"+ TV's for return..

I get what you're saying. I do know that LCD sometimes have a white to black problem (in a movie say the scene goes from really light to dark) where the blacks are lighter because the LCD hasn't flushed each crystal fast enough.

I don't think I'm too concerned about darks, as we're going to be viewing frame by frame not crazy fast light to dark scenes... but I hear ya- good lookin out.

mainly concerned about RGB colors, I hear some of the LCD's bleed reds which would be horrible.

FWIBH Sony is the way to go for LCD tv. Less macroblocking then the sammys. I personally have an older 46LNT61 and I love it. I don't use the 120mhz mode and never had needed to.

Most other stores would only give 30 days return policy PLUS 10-15% restocking fee!

2 year warranty is in case your TV is defect product then they'll fix it. My LCD TV's power board (or something) was busted right after 1 year. I brought it to TV repair shop & got quote for $368! Then, my wife remembered Costco's 2 year warranty. Called them up & they even offered to have it delivered to repair shop. They didn't know I already sent the TV to the shop & I found out THAT particular shop is qualified Costco's repair shop. I got the TV fixed for FREE!

The problem w/ lots of today's consumer products is they'll be busted RIGHT AFTER manufacture warranty expired... like they put some kind of timer.

thats burl you got your tv fixed fo free.

I agree with the whole busting after the warranty is up.. Seems like the companys are like "well ya shee it works here for a year, lets sell it and cover it for a year... STAT" low n behold a little after the year is up, something over heats causing this and that, and POW u have a paper w8.

I really hate investing in the first go-around electronics batch of anything new.
I know a lot of people in retails and they say the first batch of any electronic is usually ****.
Sucks how big companies can't fully test their product, and rely on consumers to test how it really operates.
Any who.. about them LCD's ...
