1080p resolution in a screen under 42" is not noticeable. End of story

that seems to be the general consensus from both expert reviews and user reviews

For instance in the Engadget HD lab, we sit around 10 feet away on our AOL-issued rolling chairs and we wouldn't see a picture quality difference if our 42-inch HDTV increased from 720p to 1080p.

CN: you don't need 1080p unless you have a 50"+ screen cuz you wont notice a difference
I don't need to research I work with the products everyday. Why are you sitting 10 feet away?? you should know thats way to far......and you should only be working in a lab.......

The fact of the matter is the media anyways, if you are watching a regular dvd or tv it doesn't matter as much as the quality of the tv/colors blah blah.......and the lcd's look worse for standard cable anyways.

the fact of the matter is those tv's are ****ty quality. Thats it. That i'd rather get a better tv for not much more, unless you want to buy another one when your vizio takes a dump.

I dont understand your comments above??? about sitting??? you only have 1 type of tv??? obviously the difference between one 720p/1080p is not the same as the difference between other models?

And for hd dvd/games the 720p does not look as good. Do you actually work in the lab?

The guy has a blue ray player, but he shouldn't buy a 1080p?? why not just stick with a tube then and sell all your new equip

the only thing worse than getting the ****ty brand is getting the ****ty brand w/o 1080p

also have you never seen the dell monitors with 1080p vs. the 720...........im talking 22 inches.......you can't see a difference?? you must be blind and i fear for you and your company

i'm using the 32" vizio as the main screen for the windows media center to record and playback HD programs...

kick ***...

as a regular screen though, 16x9 sucks since the window, in my case, browser window is always too short, vs being to wide.

My buddy has a 42" AQUOS as his monitor. Pretty nice, except his desk is sagging haha..

I have a Tosh 1080p 42". I don't really care much about that though. I got a 1080i output HD-DVD player for now because it was dirt cheap, and because most of my friends who are into this stuff have told me there is not much point in getting a 1080p player yet anyway due to media, and to wait till it's cheaper - but that I did good on the TV purchase.

well let me put some info out there since I work for costco and we sell the vizio

first its a really well made tv we have had little problems with them and for the price you can't beet its really the best bang for your buck out there. as for the size and the 1080p issue yeah there is a 42" that is 1080 but if you can wait there should be a 40" with 3 hdmi ports and a pc port and it is 1080pit should be coming out in the next cupple months it will be some where in between the price of the 37" and the 42" and that sounds like what your looking for if your looking for write ups on vizio check out c-net and other sites look at the forms and the consumer write ups not the site write up

I guess this a little too late. But DO NOT BUY VIZIO tv's. My father in law went through 3 Vizio plasmas (42" model) within 1.5 years (thank god for the awesome Costco return policy). My good friend got a vizio lcd tv (dunno the size) and it also broke within 3 months. Again, thank god for the Costco return policy. All 4 tv's had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM. something with the power supply. After a few months, they just wont turn on anymore. The panels may be good (since there arent many panel manufacturers). But Vizio really cheaped out in the other components. There's a reason why they are cheaper than the bigger name brands.

anyways, good luck.

uhhh.. buy a 32" and tell me 1080p will help it.. or look better than 720p.

Do you even know what the Frame rate is of a 1080p???

720p is capable of 60 frames per second.. and a 1080p is only capable of a 30fps...

so watch a movie with tons of fast action, or a sports game.. and tell me you feel the same.. and if you had a POS off brand LCD 720p then maybe thats why you had a bad picture.
especially if you hook up a computer to it to play a game on the tv.. a 32" 720p will look better than a 46" 1080p. all because of frame rate. and the fact that until it gets big enough you don't notice how nice the higher resolution is of the 1080p is.. you must have upgraded to a nicer 1080p if you saw a difference between 1080 and 720 that was dramatic.
