i wouldn't call it the **** hole as far as environment goes.. its fricken beautiful out there.. just some of the locals give it a bad rep....

You are exactly right. The surrounding beauty somtimes comes away with a bad rap because of its inhabitants. The immediate Lakeport area is pretty clean though. We still have the cleanest air in CA, and the biggest freshwater lake (second oldest in the world!)

So, since we're headed to Clear Lake in a few weeks, are you guys saying to stay out of the local area and hang out in the outskirts like Santa Rosa and all ? This is our first time up there and always thought it would be a nice quick vacation place.
