Can you imagine going on vacation and then coming back to find that your car is missing, the curb is painted red and there's a "no parking any time" sign where you left it?
Moral of the story - Don't leave your car parked on the street in SF for an expended period of time. You never know what'll happen!

Yea do the chalk thing. This reminds me of when the wife & I were living over at Elan apartments in Sj. There was this nice White Nsx, 97 I think. Anyways it had been there for a good 5 months not moved in a parking garage and towing notices so out of curiosity I tried to open the door and wala! It opened and saw keys near the shifted so I grabbed them and locked the door. I called to see if the plates came back stolen but they came back clean. So I said eff it! Lol sat inside checked it out started it up and I found some phone numbers inside the glove box and called them. One girl put me through the owner who was away on business in Italy so I called him explained his car was on the verge of being towed. He said thanks and go have fun but not too much fun and that I could drive it for him...one of the best 4 months I had driving that thing...then he came back

Still a really awesome story though.
