They're smart. They know where their best chance on winning a championship is. You can't go wrong with Shaq. He is arguable the most dominant player in the league and a proven winner. ANd kobe isn't bad himself

how can you even say that. Gay Payton took a 10+ million dollar pay cut and Karl Malone took almost 17 Million dollar pay cut. So as far as buying championships, they are not. Gary is only making 4.5 mil and Karl is only making 1.5 mil a year. That is way below their market value. So I don't think that is buying a championship bro.

I'll admit, the Kings are a good "regular" season team but until they can win it all, all these victories in the regular season means nothing. Tonight, the kings got beat by the Jazz (which the Lakers beat twice this season already). The Jazz are nowhere near as good as the Lakers, yet they beat the kings. This just comes to show you that when teams go up against the Lakers, they bring their A+ game and this is hard to do in a 7 game playoff series. And I don't think that there is a team in the league that can beat the Lakers in a 7 game series (especially if they are healthy)

You're right. I guess I mis-stated what I was trying to say. I just don't like the fact that they pretty much have an all-star team, like the Yankees, and everyone wants to play for them just because they win lots of games and are favorites for the championship. I guess I'm more of a "route for the underdog" guy.

I'm a fan of Phil Jackson, and am proud to be a fan of the Lakers since he took over as coach.

Your team is a bunch of ***king losers, and so are you, so ***k off~~:banana:

Why is taking less money to sign with a good team selling out as opposed to NEVER coming close to winning a championship with the team(s) they were with. As far as i see it they did something quite good in the MONEY OVER CHAMPIONSHIP ERA of todays sports. Also i bet you wouldnt be saying the same had they both signed with the Kings.

I think the problem with 2 all stars taking a pay cut ruins the whole purpose of a salary cap.

You said so yourself. Granted they are not "buying" a championship, but it's not exactly fair.

It's like having 2 cars with simliar power bands and then you add a 100 shot of nitrous to one of them.

It's not the lakers fault, but it just shows what's wrong with basketball.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Are you some kind of sports "communist"??

Should they have signed with the ghey Kinks instead, because they're the underdog????

Who determines if a player will accept a lesser salary?

THE PLAYER

If he doesn't want to play for teh muy losero team (like teh perrenial non-championship winning Kinks), then HE DOESN'T PLAY FOR THEM!!!

Period Point Blank.

What's the difference between the Kinks of old and the Kinks of new???

THEY USED TO SUCK WITH NO PLAYERS, AND THEY STILL SUCK EVEN WITH A BUNCH OF PLAYERS.

Didn't you just love that game 7 where we just slit your ***king throats and let you choke on your own blood at the end???

I loved seeing Doug Christie crying.

I loved seeing Rick Adelman clutching the sides of his head.

I love seeing your team lose over and over and over, when it counts the most...

ahahah its funny that you say that. Yeah they are my team and if they win the championship or not they will still be my team. I guess we'll have a new rivalry topic next season when you chose your next favorite team.

My only gripe against the Lakers is their 2-3 season reign because the NBA had gotten too predictable and it was always Kobe this, Shaq that. I liked to see the main nucleus of the Lakers struggle and see unlikely guys who usually don't get minutes step up like Kareem Rush, Slav, even Luke Walton at some point in the season. Hell, it was fun watching Mark Madsen play during his stay with the Lakers last season. When the entire team pulls together without relying so much on on the main players, that's the kind of Lake show I like watching. In the beginning of the season, I seriously doubted the Lakers depth because most of those guys sitting on the pine don't get enough minutes to do anything.

Speaking of playing time. Gary Payton's kinda b*tchy about how many looks he gets and how Phil Jackson's offense doesn't rely on the point guard as much as The Glove prefers. Geez man, he damn well knew what he was gettin' into when he signed.

Bottom line is that when it comes to the playoffs, I wanna see good match ups. No sweeps, most, if not all series going to the very last games. I love watching game winning shots and plays at the final seconds of a crucial game. It gives me something to talk about later and get excited about.

band-wagon (noun): 1. Used to carry odds and ends from one place to another 2. Preferred ride of choice for followers of sports who dont really follow sports but instead follow trends (i.e. The Lakers have the most talent in the league and one of the best coaches in NBA history? Where can I get a Lakers sticker?)

Do you have one of those cool reversible jackets for the NFL as well? Maybe throw the Pats on the front and the Cowboys or Eagles or the Colts on the inside? I guess in that case you might want to borrow some Royal Purple silk so that you can start stiching the inside of your jackets with my team's colors...

SACTO SUCKS and all you Queens lovers suck ***** too.

Rick Adelman is a *****, not a leader, and your team is a bunch of gay whiners.

Your team is owned by a couple pansy whining crybabies (hey, just like the coach and the players!), who are doomed never to win.

I'd rather live in polluted L.A. than Sacto, the most boring fuggin' ****to city in California...all flat, lifeless, hot and sunny like a damn farm...

I wish they would level the whole worthless ghetto area and return it to the farmland it is...
