There was one on CL last week for under $3000.

I'd start on CL and then make calls to wrecking yards. Make some relationships with yards that specialize in imports and get on call list. Talk to RAT. He does auction work. That's another place. And keep your eyes on all the subaru forums. Hate to say it but nasioc has a much larger classifieds section and you'll see wrecked cars there on a regular basis.

Wrecked WRX's come up more often.

yea i upgraded to 03 wrx front brakes with new carbotech pads. noticeable difference. if anything, the most you should go is 4 pots. imo brembos are pretty much overkill for a gc chassis.

This answer could be solved very clearly and very quickly with one phone call. Call LIC or GST.
Honestly... just go grab the whole hub. That's the best way to do it. And I won't lie to you... converting is a ***** if you never done it before. You just really need some big tools and air tools.

Word. That was my point.. buy the whole set up from hub to rotor. I think I said that in my first post but I forget.

And yeah it's a pain. I'd invest in a couple cans of PB Blast, some new hardware, some paint, and some gloves because some knuckles will be bashed.

It definitely makes a difference... however... is it worth that much work. That's what you should be asking yourself.

mmm brembos i say swap first =D get some good pads and or cheap legacy H6 upgrade for the rear

or wrx brakes would suffice

Lets just say you really set on using the brembos

1st choice

the fronts you would need some some sort of rotor 5x100 for the front brembos, since your rear brakes are drums you would need to do a conversion to brake disk, buy rear brackets to allow the rear brembos to bolt in and brakeshoes for the handbrake

(the sti's have a larger inner handbrake i believe 190mm vs 170mm godspeedbrake sells larger shoes and bracket package deals to allow it to work)

brembos with pads and rotors - ABOUT $1000-1500
rear brackets and larger brake shoes - $380 shipped from UK with about 5 day shipping to CA

2nd choice

Buy complete sti drivetrain - ABOUT $3000-4000
that includes
-6 speed tranny
-front and rear axles
-hubs spindles etc
try to get 5x114 more wheel choices and a bit stronger
-Brembos, calipers,pads
-r180 rear diff (important because the final drive has to match the tranny sti have a r180 3.9FD i believe and a rs r160 with vlsd is 4.111FD)

Either way get ready to be spending a bunch of money that i think can be spent on other things as you just bought the car.

Can't for the rear... You need to convert the drum to a disc.
