It looks like I'll be buying a 2004 JBP WRX sedan this week (if all goes according to plan), so I thought now would be a good time for a first post. Any Club Si cross-posters here? I had a 2000 EBP Si until a few months ago. I've been riding my SV650 since then, trying to hold off the new car purchase for a while. I was going to wait a few more months, but with registration fees set to triple, I decided to step up my plans.
Anyway, I can't wait to get the car, and I look forward to coming out to some meets. Oh and if you have any last-minute advice for someone about to buy a WRX, please, let me know!

just do a search and you'll see a LONG list of reasons. mainly bad service and sales person.

Wow, scary! I was there last week checking out the cars, and the guy I delt with didn't seem so bad for a car dealer... in any case, I'll be carefull if I have to deal with them. Thanks.

I recently picked up a GS500E (same platform the SV650 is built on), and am learning how to ride on that, but plan on buying an 00 SV650 within the next year.
Ride safely.

Actually, the GS and the SV don't have much in common, other than being twins, and the SV is a v-twin at that. The GS has been manufactured (and remained mostly unchanged) since 1989, while the SV debuted 10 years later, featuring an all-new, innovative trellis frame that Suzuki spent big bucks to design and manufacture. The GS is air-cooled, the SV is liquid-cooled.
That said, the GS is a great bike to start on, and has a loyal following of owners. Once you put a few miles under your belt, though, the SV will make a very nice upgrade, and you will learn even more on it. In terms of bikes that can "do it all" -- running errands, commuting, canyon carving, racing -- the SV has no peers.

Great choice in your SV! Please do check out www.svrider.com if you haven't already, and also check out my personal SV site to see some of the cool things you can do with it:
http://www.structive.com/sv650
Also, BARF is a community of bay area riders that hold regular meets and rides... www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/.
Peace, and welcome to the SV and Impreza clubs!
Dave
(..wondering how many other WRX/SV650 owners we have here...)

Dave,
I actually do read SVRider, as well as BARF. I've registered at both sites too, just haven't had the chance to post (its been a busy summer for me). Hopefully I can become more involved in the coming months.
