Just installed a RSB and I hear some knocking

So I just installed a Cusco RSB on a 07 sti yesterday. And I was driving around today, I start to hear a little knocking coming from the rear. Any ideas if this could be a HUGE problem or just a minor one or anything? I'm on stock suspension and stock endlinks

Did you grease any polyurethane bushings that came with it? Did you use washers between the bolt/rsb/endlink?

I didn't grease the bushing, but I did use the washer between the bolt, rsb, endlink

I had a knocking sound before too. I just retorqued the bolts to exact specs and it went away.

I dunno about the cooking oil

BUT, you only need to grease it if it is polyurethane

I believe rubber bushings will suffice un-lubed

Well need not to worry, I just bought some valvoline grease... So hopefully I'll grease the bushings and retorque the bolts

Save yourself the time and trouble of figuring this out for yourself: use silicone grease on urethane bushings. It will outlast just about any grease except maybe wheel bearing grease. It can be found at Napa, or just about any autoparts store.

This happened to a buddy of mine once, no idea why. His stock endlink snapped/broke soon after a bigger rsb install. might as well look.

Also happened to me when my stock swaybar bracket broke, but that probably isnt the case with your car, the sti brackets are more reinforced

I don't know if this is a problem, so the last 2 hours I tried to figure out what was wrong with it. So I noticed on the stock endlinks, one of the ball bearings that moves around actually twist where the other one doesn't twist, but only moves around. And I had one inverted on the other. So I greased the bushings and corrected the endlinks.

I drove around for about 15 minutes at varying speeds and I don't think I hear any knocking of any sort. So hopefully I solved this.

Also a thing to note on RSB for STi's using stock endlinks:

if you put the rear sway bar on the stiffest settings (23-24mm) with stock endlinks the bar can flip...this happens when the car is lifted off the ground...LOOK at the bar, if its pointing downwards the endlinks will be taco'd. we see this all the time from do it yourselfers and from tire shops that dont realize you have to ensure the bar is upright prior to dropping car on the ground.

hope this helps

Hey Noah,

Thanks for your help. I'm in the middle settings... What do you mean the endlinks will be taco'd? And could you describe what the bar should look like?
