Question just got a PSP as a gift. dont know much about it. someone educate me :p

i'm not a big gamer or gadget guy, so bear with me. other than the obvious gameplay and movies, what's cool about the PSP? what else is can i do with it? i plan on mounting it on my dash for road trip movies. i guess my concern is that i dont want to buy a bunch of movies on UMD and be stuck with all these UMD's that only work with PSP. i'm all about versatility, so can i load movies onto the PSP without having to buy the UMD's? e.g. with the memory stick, which looks a lot like an SD card, so are they the same?

so what are some of the good games or movies to pick up? i'm really into street fighter, driving games, and metal gear kinda stuff. i'd like to pick up used games cuz i hate buying new games to find out i hate it. so ebay? and i'm not really into alot of the newer movies. i'm more into standup comedy, live concerts, good tv shows (daily show, seinfeld, office etc).

i have no clue about this thing. pretty freakin trick though.

PSPs are no good. they are kinda useless. what you want is a Nintendo DS. how about this, i'll do you a favor and buy your PSP.

sort of ontopic -- just got initial D for the PSP and it's pretty badass. Too bad I can't read Japanese.

You can do a lot of cool things with it:
* Surf the internet wirelessly if you have a 802.11B router. I have actually read i-Club posts while on the can.
* View movies converted to MP4 format.
* View photos in a slideshow.
* Listen to MP3s.
* The PSP can scan wireless networks around you, tell you their SSIDs and wireless strength.
* You can't really use the Infrared, but I read some people have hacks to use it as a remote control for the TV.
* It's a nice paperweight.
* When the PS3 comes out, you will be able to connect the two somehow.

you can surf the web w/ firmware 1.6 and above (i think) as long as you have a wireless access point you can access. it's not bad, although entering in text is a major PITA. Most sites are rendered kinda funky, but i-club doesn't look that bad

You can save mp4 movies onto the mem stick. It has to be in a particular directory. I don't remember what it is offhand.
