Just got Keyed...

Okay, just saw that my obp 05 sti had the hood keyed. I'm pretty PO'd to say the least. MY BABY!!!!

Anyway, it looks like they didnt get down to metal just partially into the paint. what can I do???

Buff it?

should I try it myself or take it somewhere? If so where in east bay? Berkeley?

Get a CF hood. =]

or u can get professionals to try and do a touch up on it.

if its not too bad touch up paint. could try buffer or mess around with it. if it still looks ugly see what the pros can do.

Touch up paint on a long scratch? I'd say if you have to ask if you can try to fix it yourself you should just take it to a professional.

There's a pretty good bodyshop in Berkeley called Panelcraft. I'm sure if you let them look at it, they can fix it for a reasonable price.

People who key cars should be in their own a circle of hell

doughboy 01-17-2006 04:29 PM

if it's really bad, there's not much you can do. if it's a mild scratch, a detail shop can probably use rubbing compound on it. i wouldn't try it myself if i didn't know what i was doing though. goodluck.

andyf 01-17-2006 04:32 PM

If the paint didn't actually come off, you can try rubbing compound... I scratched my c-pillar when I swapped my trunks, and George from Creative Kustoms suggested it. It worked like a charm!

If it's deep, you're out of luck...

STi-FTW 01-17-2006 04:57 PM

1. Buy a new CF hood.
2. Take old hood and cut off a piece with acetlyne cutting torch.
3. Sharpen hood piece into shiv.
4. Find person who keyed your car.
5. ...well you can figure out this step yourself.

DetailAddict 01-17-2006 05:03 PM

i have no experience with keyed marks on a car, I can only suggest body shops... I know I get really PO when I get a small door ding. You must be ready to kill someone.... Sorry to hear what happened...

Only if we can implement a security system where it would release 1000 volt of electricity upon metal contact on body panels. :D

i found scratches on my hood too. is this is a new trend or something? gay.

pablo_her 01-17-2006 07:19 PM

zumnwrx 01-17-2006 07:24 PM

befor you get in your car and head out to buy some lame crap

go to a pro and ask for advice... please!

nothing like a n00b, touch up paint, rubing compond, and a buffer
