For once I'd like to do something nice and not get questioned about it. No matter who we choose to donate to, someone will always throw in their .02. If everyone chose to donate money to human funds, what then would happen to all the other funds? What would happen to our furry best friends?
This round goes for the dogs and cats because a little bit of money goes a long way with shelters as they know how to use the $$ very efficiently without wasting... Unlike human programs where our money would buy a rubber band, some paper clips, and a stick of gum, and unless you're McGuyver, it won't really make a difference.
One thing that's great about animal shelters is that the recourse officers do a damn fine job at making use of everything for our little furry friends. A little bit of money goes a long way, so when we donate a couple hundred bucks (estimate) or more, those animals will be directly effected by the money..
I know some of you will argue with me because no matter what I do or what I suggest, someone always thinks it should be done their way. I know some of you are just trying to help out, and I appreciate it... but too many cooks in the kitchen spoils the stew.

Good news, whatever amount of money we raise for the donation, my company will double the donation amount.
So if we raise $1000 for the shelter animals, my company will automatically double it to $2000.
So if you donate $5, you're actually donating $10. How sweet is that!?
PS: I don't only do stuff like this for animals, I also donate my time to kids with muscular dystrophy who don't have big brothers to rely on... I do donation raffles for them too. I don't know if you guys remember my friend Matt Hinton, the 21 year old kid who had muscular dystrophy who was in a really bad situation and couldn't move any part of his body minus his eyes, tongue/jaw, and 3 fingers. He was stuck in bed all day in a house of 6 kids and a single mom, they were really poor and all he had in life was a TV that he watched all day and all night, every day for years and years. They didn't have cable and the TV was some 19" POS TV from the late 80s. My ex girlfriend was his nurse which is how I met him... After seeing his situation I started a donation fund for him on NASIOC and here and after a few days we raised close to $4,000!
As a surprise we bought him some things to make his last year or two on earth just a bit more special. We ended up buying him a huge flat screen plasma for his room with a collection of every DVD he could list off (his favorites), so about 25-30 of his fav DVDs, a year of comcast cable TV for his new TV, and with the leftover money we bought him a brand new laptop (he can still use it with disabled-persons software since he could move 3 fingers). He loved to go online but didn't have computer he could use and had to use other peoples stuff, etc... So we got him a really good one and installed all his programs for him, got him a year of cable internet all pre-paid.
Matt was able to enjoy his new toys for about a year which is when he passed away.
That situation really opened my eyes up in life and changed a lot of things for me, and since then I have dedicated my spare time to helping kids like Matt... It make me feel like I have a purpose in life I guess.
Helping the unfortunate is helping the unfortunate, simple as that. You can't just focus on one group and ignore the others... The doggies and kitties need our help too. Without people that are willing to help them, what would happen to them? Humans can take care of themselves for the most part, animals can't. They are 100% reliant on us. Kids like Matt are 100% reliant on us too, but he's a small percentage of people who are 100% reliant on help from humans. 100% of animals are reliant on humans, not just a small percentage.
Did you know that 5 MILLION DOGS are killed in shelters every year due to overpopulation? Think about that for a second... 5 MILLION A YEAR! Most of the animals in shelters don't even have blankets to sleep on due to the mass shortage of money that goes to shelters. Even the act of donating old towels and blankets makes a huge difference for these animals, let alone a nice chunk of change that goes directly to the animals. I'll make sure the money goes directly towards them and not to any other sector of the shelter.
Thanks to everyone that supports this cause and if the animals knew, they'd thank you too.
