just bought a 2002 impreza wrx.. any tips (im new)
This is my first subaru car (turbo car) the car has Meth injection .. havent used it yet.. is it good for the car???
Dont hit boost without being sure the tank has enough otherwise you could detonate the block under boost especially if the tune is set up for it because how it was tuned it most likely comes on during boost and the ecm is tune with the addition of it so if run out youll chance or definitely end with catastrophic failure. 91 +meth turned like it has 100 octane or something like that so depending on if your tune is conservative or not the ecm might not be adjust .. im not going to get into the octane talk but just dont be a tool and you'll be fine lol ... congrats on the car btw

A car that old is probably ready for bushings/struts. You might want to consider a compression/leakdown test before you start messing with the motor.

Definitely have a compression and leakdown test before you go further...Knowing what kind of WI system will help us determine the type of failsafe as well. Some are more thorough than others. Also, like queeg said, with a Subaru of that age it will likely benefit from some suspension and shifter bushing being refreshed.

New STI trani at 81xxx
Deatsch werks 750cc injectors
STI intercooler
Exedy racing clutch
Headers
Manuel boost controller
Cobb tuner
Invidia downpipe
19G turbo
I guess thats it
nice mods but just to be on the safe side a compression and a leak down test just gives you some peace of mind and health of your engine if you decide to ever use it. I sure wish I had done that when i first bought my car

Alrighty then, thanks! That is some relatively low mileage for that chassis. With the methanol injection you need to be very, very sure that the system is fully functional and the failsafe operates properly. If you are tuned for it and aren't running it the A/F will be lean and detonation occurs. If the prior owner has a map switch and you're running a pump gas map I'd wanna be damn sure when I switch maps that all is well with the map and the wi system.
If you know the tuner you could ask them to check the accessport maps, etc.

I'd spend some money on new injectors and fuel pump, and get rid of meth injection, switch to e85 and retune it.
There is a great Propel e85 station on A st, just east of 880. Instead of having to manage methanol, just ditch it and switch to e85. You'll like life better not having to worry.
