Rejection Hurts

I understand how much this hurts, I'm unemployed right now, got laid off 3 weeks ago and I have a mortgage and a family to support.
I had lined up a new job with the hiring supervisor, I sent my resume to his manager too, who responded very positively...everything was lined up and everyone had my resume...I thought this job was a slam dunk - then two days later I get an email of rejection from the original guy that was supposed to hire me and now I can't work at any of those jobs.
I don't get it, I didn't do anything wrong, I spoke to everyone involved, I was positive I would at least get an interview - very disappointing.
Rejection hurts, most of the jobs I've applied for I don't get a letter of rejection or a phone call or anything - very depressing.
I have also been hired to find someone to fill a position - the last time I did this I got more than 140 resumes - I can't possibly answer them all - I sifted through all 140 resumes and came up with 4 people to interview.
One of the guys was really cool, nice guy very polite and relaxed. He had the best personality by far and asked me to call him either way. He was also the least qualified, so when it came time for the boss to pick someone, she picked another candidate. I went ahead and called him up to tell he he wasn't selected and he went ballistic on me. He was screaming and angry and I was really embarrassed.
I will NEVER call anyone again to tell them the didn't get a job. That was a bad experiance.
If you think you've been hurt because they didn't get back to you, then think about how many resumes they had to sift through. Do you really expect them to reply back to every one of them? How many hours do you expect that to take?
wouldn't it hurt more if like me you were told, "hang on, we're going to bring you on board" by the owner. Then get an email saying, thanks for applying but we have decided someone else is more qualified. They have 23 vacancies - they have been empty for a year!
Very sad....now time to go get drunk and drive 130 in the rain.

I just want to say I'm not mad about anything... peoples tones come off differently online. I was never worried about not getting the job cause I already had a job at the time I applied and still do currently. So it does not make much difference to me.

if they say they will email or respond then they should. same as if you order something as a customer. b/c the applicant most likely is.
