Iracing VS Grand Turismo 5

Has any one played both? Which is better for actual race simulation? I was thinking about getting a Playstation just for Grand Turismo but the online comments say that Iracing is more realistic. So has any one done both? And what are your opinions? And what are your real driving credentials? Racer? HPDE? No real track time, just a gamer? Thanks

I've never played iRacing, but I wouldn't say GT5 is a super accurate race simulator. Sure, the physics are pretty good... but it in no way is a substitute for real life. I hear people use iRacing as a simulator to prep for events. GT might help you learn track layouts, but as far as real world braking points and getting a true feel for the exact car... it's a fun game.

That is just my opinion, of course. For what it's worth I have a decent amount of track, auto-x and rally experience under my belt. Ohhh, I did some stunt driving for a car DVD once, too.

iracing is a sim for PC

GT is a driving game for a console

Apples to Oranges imo

iracing is fun when you invest lots of money into your set up.

GT is pretty much the train model game for train model goers. The license and special stages is what makes the game challenging. Keep in mind with GT, you are suppose to drive their cars the way how GT wants you to hence the difficult tests (no excessive bumping, staying on track). Damage will get more severe when you get to the higher levels as well.
