Into Reptiles? Beautiful Tokay gecko and amazing custom tank forsale
This is a really beautiful Tokay Gecko (gekko gecko). He lives in what used to be a 60 gallon fish tank (acrylic/lexan). All modifications I have engineered myself.
The tank has been totally customized in the following ways:
- the center has been raised with 1/4 inch Lexan to create a 4" mote around floor of the tank. This mote is a real running stream. It has a drain on the left side as well as damn which allows a fishtank filter to pick up the water, filter it and put it back to the other side of the damn, thus creating the continually running stream. And yes, there's fishtank rocks and small fish in there!
- the back of the tank has a removable Lexan shelf. It and the top of the island have small lava rocks bordering, held on with aquarium grade silicone.
- lotsa of well used and leeched (no tanins) driftwood
- two 18" flourescent light fixtures with daylight bulbs are mounted inside the tank on the underside of the top towards the front. These lights along with a red heatbulb in a directional hood are controlled with a timer
- two 1/2" holes have been cut on either side of the tank for spraying w/o having to open the tank
- 2 temperature and 1 humidity gauge. Left side of the tank varies between 80F and 90F, and the right side between 70F and 80F. WIth proper spraying (once or twice a day), the humidity can be maintained between 80% and 90%.
Well that's all I can think of for now. I've put a lot of work into this. I did it to revive my love for reptiles, but it didn't seem to work. I just don't have the bug anymore.
There's almost $400 of equipment that makes this tank. I'll accept $200 or the best reasonable offer I get... more than $200 is certainly welcome ... and yes... this includes the gecko
If you want to more about Tokays, let me know. FYI, they are not handleable. They can be quite feisty and give a hard bite. But they are beautiful, and vocal (!!!). When they are horny they say "To-Kay!", hence their name. They are nocturnal, but over time (its not unheard of) mine has become largely diurnal.
Lemme know....
