need some helpful advise. trying to decide on short ram air or cold air intake set up.
heard that cold air is better but something about sucking up water?
then heard about short ram air sucking up heat from engine?
i work on motorcycles and really dont have any choices with intake other than air filter and funnels (velocity stacks)...
just needs some helpful tips...

ok... think about the short ram "sucking up hot air" idea.
doesn't matter if the air starts out cold or hot, it has to enter a blazing hot turbo and then go to the intercooler anyways lol..
go with a short ram. CAI(Cold Air Intakes) can suck up water during the winter...

as for the OP I'd wait for APS to bring out their CAI for your car.

i say SPT, mainly cuz i like mines, slight BOV sound, and it does let the engine breathe easier
however the stock intake can really handle quite a bit.
i know a guy whos got on 08 with the spt i will have him get a hold of you

My 2 cents...
SRI = sucking up too much "hot air"
CAI = high possibility of sucking in water
Best thing for our Suby's is the stock intake...

Stay with stock airbox man. You won't need an aftermarket intake system until you're pushing beyond ~350whp. I could go into the horrible generalizations being made about CAI's, as Spoolin415 already made light of, but I won't, as it's not relevant since you don't need an aftermarket intake yet.
If you'd like to make a worthwhile performance modification, you could buy a Cobb AP v2 and do stg1, or purchase some suspension mods like an ALK, a set of anti-roll bars, purchase a set of RE-01R's at clearance pricing for better wet AND dry performance than your stockers. I could continue, but bottom line, intake = waste of money unless you've done A LOT more engine modification already. I'd love to see your STi some time. Haven't gotten to ride in a GR yet.

I drove cross country in a dumped VW with a CAI. I encountered pouring rain, standing puddles, the whole nine yards. No hydro lock.
My STi currently has a CAI, seen plenty of rain, standing puddles, etc. No hydro lock.
The track record points to a CAI being a pretty safe bet.

agreed on that!
if you have a much larger setup (bigger turbo, injectors, fmic)...only go with the APS CAI's (we have these instock always but they require a custom tune)
