installing a VF 30

How Hard is it to install, can i do it myself? i dont think i have the money to have a shop do it because i am broke, any one wanna help me? i would be very appreciated and could buy you a great lunch and maybe give you a little cash too!

also i dont have injectors or a fuel pump yet, but i have all other supporting mods, is it safe to instal, or should i wait until i find a set of sti pinks and a walbro?

i have a full exhaust with an sti top mount and a utec, currently set at stage 3, but soon... stage 4!

thanks for all of the help, and if you know anyone selling a pump or injectors lmk

And just on general principles...I'd wait until you have more spare money before modding your car that extensively. I mean if you don't have ~300-400 for a shop to do the install, nor enough for injectors, or a fuel pump......what happens when you break your tranny (>$1500)???

Just a father-like perspective...

A very good perspective, stuff like that MUST be considered when heavily modding your car.

Does adding VF30 Turbo considered heavily modding?

Making circa 100hp over stock (170ish-->280ish) is most definitely heavily modded in terms of crap that starts breaking. It might not be a custom built turbo setup or something sexy like that...but a VF can break stuff no problem, as Zoeb will attest to.

Generally speaking with the state of the majority of WRX's out there I would say that a Stage 4 type car (TurboXS) would be more like medium with the heavily modded crowd running the non bolt on Turbo's or FP units.

With regards to the Subaru transmission I have heard conversations where a K&N filter is heavily enough a mod to break it (although this would be the extreme) on a serious note I think when you add a bigger turbo to the WRX it is not if the transmission breaks but more when it will break.

Roger - I would wait till you have the injectors and fuel pump but if your hell bent on installing the turbo first run it at around 12-13psi and use you UTEC to + or - your fuel and timing.

P.S I have not forgotten about your side skirts, I will call you on them tomorrow
