Install help: Please Read

Hey all,
I've met a few of you at the Davis meet we had at the end of last month. Ive talked to 02BlackWRX here on the boards a little bit too. Thanks again, everyone who was there, for being so cool to my semi-newbish self.

Anyways, right now I am completely ready to buy either a Bosal twin dump downpipe, or (what I really want) AN UPPIPE.

However, I know I can't install the uppipe. And am getting discouraged cuz Im ready to buy it, but don't know when I can get it in. I have posted on the thread for the install fest but, I really can't blame anyone if they dont want to spend forever putting a UP in my car.

What do you guys think? Should I just get the DP, could I get the UP done at the install fest, or should I buy somone lunch or whatever and have them help me on a random day?

get a stock uppipe, gut it (CHEAP and stock looking)...and get the Bosal. I would probably try to do them both at the same time because that's how I am...

I'm sure there is someone that can help you around there.

Hey-Ex-Ricer,
Are either you or Zoeb going to that install fest day? To me it seems like the perfect day to do it. Please tell me if the uppipe install wouldn't be good for the install fest, because maybe it would take too long to do?
Right now Im just getting really excited about getting a "free" gutted catless uppipe, and thus being able to then get a sweet bosal Dp as well!

I'd buy someone elses stock uppipe (I have one in the closet), gut it while you have the time, make sure you have the bolt to plug the EGT hole (M12x1.25), and the resistor for the EGT plug (2.2k ohm, 0.5 Watt, radioshack).

Then when you take out your UP, you can gut it and sell it on ebay for $100

But it's the best free mod there is.

Hey Ex-ricer and Zoeb,
What if I provided a little cash insentive to have you do my uppipe install?
I'd be willing to pay a little to get it done if it didnt break the bank too hard.

I would definitely get some ones helps installing an uppipe just because it is so difficult to do it without a lift and nuematics it could tke you a long time, especially if you don't know how.

don't get a gutted uppipe
yea.. it cost less, but the aftermarket ones are larger in diameter, allowing more flow, if you are worried about looking stock, you can't even see it from above and barely from below. if you don't gut it well enough, it can be dangerous because shards of metal will be flying around. over all a bad idea

i suggest just getting a helix flex up pipe and down pipe, you have to remove the DP to get to the up uppipe anyway, so, if you are planning on getting a DP now and installing it,and will be purchasing a Uppipe in the future, wait until you have both to isntall it.

make sure you get a bell mouth DP otherwise it sort of is a waste.

save your $ buy both at the same time, and just pay for beer and pizza and haev some people come over and help you
max (i'd join in)

how much time did you spend i am about to purchase headers, uppipe, and downpipe and would rather do it myself if I don't have to lift the car to high

i don't know about headers, but we only lifted it about 7 or 8 inches

if you haven't done it before, and don't work regularly with cars, i would get some help
