Where can I find the sweetest plan deals with reasonably phones that are actually useful. (I especially like SonyEricsson and my wife likes Motorola). On the web the prices are crap. I know local little mom'n'pop shops give the best prices but what where are the best deals?

Right now my wife and I pay $60 each, per month. (This is of course for a B.S. "$39.99" plan... $40, heh, yeah right). I'm figuring we can save at least $40 it not more with some sort of decent family plan.

Any suggestions?

Cingular has a $60 plan that gives 800 anytime minutes and to add an additional line its $9.99, whihc includes mobile to mobile and thats a LOT of people...

 

shop tigerdirect.com or amazon.com if you're looking for a new carrier. they usually have deals that will get you a nice phone for little money, sometimes even money back after rebates.

Which sony ericcson phone are you talking about? A lot of stores here sell the sony ericsson s710a for ~225 out the door with a 1 year contract 39.99 contract.

 

I have at&t and my wife has cingular.

I'd looove to have a sony s710a *drool* ... but I don't wanna blow that much on a hpone. I don't wanna spend more than $50 on a phone. All I want is mp3 ringtones (doesnt have to be an mp3 player) and bluetooth for frills.

I got a motorola V220 for free through cingular...no blue tooth but it does allow MP3 ringtones and it has a camera.

if you get Cingular, pray to god you get a text messaging package, i sent around 220 text messages without one and i got charged $22 (.10 cents per message, which is alot), and i had the unnecessary $50 plan in which i ended up with a ****load of rollover minutes i would of never used. stick to the $40 plan with a text messaging package, you'll thank yourself later.

 

i got to test demo an s710a, the phone is packed with a ton of features i.e. 1.3mp camera, mp3 player, bluetooth, expandable media. Features are cool but to me they were useless. most people have a digital camera already with higher resolution and mp3 players with larger storage space. Whenever you use the camera or the mp3 player, it drains the battery quickly. Swivel is cool but it gets old really fast, its irritating and inconvenient. I use the v3 razr now and its great, same resolution camera as the s710a, less bulky, has a more user friendly interface, and works much better as a phone. s710a like most sony ericssons tend to stall and have software issues so i would be careful buying one. Razr WAS around $400 w/2yr contract, now its only $200.

 

i have tmobile, aint the best service but pretty good deal...i have 1000mins plus nites and wkend for 39.99 but ill never use that many mins which is kind of a waste...also have the data service plan which is unlimited internet, AOL, text, emails, since i use a sidekick2..all for 59.99 a month

 

my friend got the Motorola Razr for free. not sure where tho. somewhere southbay. had to be a small mom n pop store. i considered it, but due to a past horrific experience with cingular, i just couldnt go back to them.

 

Verizon works great for me. I never lose calls, get tons of minutes and text messages and they have cool phones. Cingular is good too. You should just invest in a CB radio for you and each of your friends. Instant commo.

 

I might be able to swing that, just depends on the situation, like multiple new lines of service....
