Correct me if I am wrong, but sounds like the area just south of SFO where 280 and 101 split/merge...There has been construction there for a bit and apparently has gotten worst with all of the heavy duty repaving they are starting. At night they close several lanes to do the repairs and I guess there is loose stuff gets left over after they reopen it which turns into ammo for truck tires

^ exactly the spot i was talking about as well. i live off of 3rd ave in san mateo and drive to 2 exits past SFO on 101N. my front end looks like i drive in a sandstorm every day.

i think i'll leave my window broken until they are done repaving and clean the roads. with my luck, i'll get a new windshield and have it happen all over again.

afternoon update: yup, it has doubled in size already.

May be I should examine the rest of my car closer now, even though I know the windshield is fine. My car is always dusty/dirty, so stuff like that will not be noticeable We'll see what the verdict will be.

I think construction starts around the Milbrea exit, so south of that is the area to watch out for.

May be you should start offering windshield repair kits to prevent windshield dings from spidering/growing out. I would buy one in a snap.

F*** 101! I hate that freeway. Ive been through 3 windshields this year alone. Im goin to zombie proof my windows and mad max them out....maybe ill start a new trend in the suby community

 

its a ****ing disgrace man. on the 24 they didn't clean up any rocks one time, it was literally like a gravel lot. a rock shot in thru my window (down a crack for a smoke), and hit me about an inch from my eye drawing a bit of blood.

we get raped on dmv/tax fee's on cars and our roads are by far the worst.........

i stopped by a shop while out to lunch today. lady there said that after it spiders out past the length of a dollar bill, it's too late for repair or to even stop it.

yeah, even more irony for you here. in the passenger seat sits my sealed envelope with $189 to register my car with the DMV for 2009. i effing hate this state sometimes.

 

$189?!?! Damn...I have used every available excuse and reason not to switch my out of state plates and registration to CA and more and more I do not feel bad...Where the car is from it only costs $70 to register your car and roads are not that much worst than here (definitely not 2.5 times worst is if I was to use the fee difference)...
