No suppressor is legal in CA, other then the suppressors, yes, they are legal... That is of course if you bought them before Jan 1st 2000 and registered them as assault weapons.
If you want to buy an AR-15 now, you can't have certain features... Like if you want detachable magazines you can't have a pistol grip/flash suppressor/forward pistol grip, But if you want those latter mentioned features then you can't have an AR that accepts detachable magazines which means you have to get a model that requires a tool to remove a 10 round magazine which is otherwise permanently attached to your rifle, or some models have a pin that break the rifle in half at a pivot point and allows you to load the magazine from a top feeding position where the magazine is permanently attached inside of the rifle... This is called a fixed magazine as it is "fixed" to the rifle.
So basically, you're screwed if you want an AR-15 without breaking the law. There are a lot of people that get the non-detach mag model and add something called a bullet button which allows you to remove the magazine quickly by using just the tip of a bullet, this is technically legal since you're still using a tool to remove the magazine and is sort of a loop hole at getting around using some lame tool that you need to carry with you every time you need to change the magazine. The law says to use 10 round magazines but this doesn't mean that your rifle wont accept 20, 30, 40, or even 100 round magazines... Hypothetically you can get these magazines and store them away in case crap hits the fan at which point no one will care if you have hi cap magazines.
That is of course a fantasy scenario and I don't condone it.
We are the only state that requires these BS modifications such as these "Evil feature" modifications, and yes, thats what they are called. To the state, "black rifles/guns" = evil. Basically, if the gun is black it is more intimidating and thus illegal. I'm not joking. It is a sad, sad time we live in here in Commiefornia.
If my family and loved ones weren't all here I would be out of this state faster then you can say "assault weapons ban"! I'd probably hit up a nice area like Flagstaff, AZ which is at elevation so you get normal seasons, good temps, no gun laws, and plenty of hot college girls to look at!
Its ridiculous what you can buy in other states compared to what you can buy in CA! Walking into a gun shop in Montana was like walking into Toys R Us when you were 8 years old and had a birthday coming up! They had anything from old historic revolvers and rifles to modern class 3 weapons and suppressors! They don't even have a waiting period... well, they sort of do... Its about 20 mins while they call in your paper work!
God I hate CA so much!

it is not a loop hole. it is built into laws.
people just started to read laws really good and came up with a solution.
