I want to tint my windows.
I am new to California and someone told me it is against the law to tint the driver's and passenger's windows. Is this a true statement?
Anyways I'm going back to NM in 2 months and was wondering if anyone knows a good shop that could tint all my windows.
Any suggestions?
I live in sunnyvale of Lawrence.

Not true, I forget the percentages that the passenger and driver windows must be to be legal... 70 and above in CA I think?
A shop will still do them, but most of the time you have to sign a waiver. I have 25 all around, depends on your preferences but I think 25 or 30 is perfect depending on what tint they use.

Where did you get your tinted at? I would really like a shop a little closer so I don't have to drive 30+, wait for them to do it, and then drive 30+ minutes back.
Honestly, I just picked a place that was local and I had a coupon for it. 200 for all 5 windows, was done in 3 hours. Look in your local phone book and just ask about deals. Most places will let you know if they have a special or coupons if you ask about it, not like they are trying to turn away money coming into their shop.
You really can't go wrong with Omega Tintwerks, just schedule an appointment and chill out up there. He is right next to Vishnu so usually they are doing dyno pulls. Also he has a bunch of magazines, DVDs, and video games. It does take a while though.
I had mine done there over 18 months ago and it is still perfect. I put a roof rack on my car which puts a clip between the window and the door frame. No problems.
Just my $0.02

I read somewhere, but can't find it, that the law was revised to 20% front. That would be 20% TOTAL, so since the factory already puts some tint in the windows, anything you add must TOTAL to 20% or less. (A meter is used to measure tint level.) You can put only 15% on the front, but if you car came 15% from the factory, you could end up with 30%.
California trick: tint the front much lighter than the rear so you have an obvious contrast between front and back.
Or you do the ricer trick and roll down your front windows every time you see cop. (I think this is stupid, especially in winter/rain.)
