Not to belittle their efforts but I think that BAIC and the rest of Nor cal can do something even bigger if we all put our minds to it.

It would be great if we could do a private charity drive that outdoes a SOA event. It would show just how much the I-Club community really cares.
We do care right?

A buddy of mine is going out there for that. He now lives about 4 horus outside of Chicago and he has mentioned this like a hundred times. He says they are determined to hold the record. But I think we could beat that, there are SO many subies out here

Plus, If we tried to make this happen, too many people would get pulled over

Um, the Wicket Big Subaru meet (or whatever the huge east coast meet is called) has well over a thousand subarus that show up, there's no way we can beat them, unless everyone came out of the woodwork and showed up.

BTW, I'm sure we could get over 500 cars if we had every subaru message board involved... Considering that at the old Hamilton meet (one of them) we had over 320 cars, and thats with minimal promotion and only i-club... If we got all the other local boards to join we could crush that 500 car record like a fly... However, there's no way we can beat the wicked big meet from the east coast... It's not just a small area like the bay area, they include 5 states worth of people that drive many hours to show up to the meet... We complain if it's ONE hour away... lol I think they had like 1200 subarus this year, they all showed up to one location, their turn out is crazy! The east coast folks are way more family oriented then we area... They are die hard subaru people, even more so then us!
Edit: Did I miss something or did they not mention how many cars will be attending? It's funny how they are raising money for homeless animals just like we are! lol... Besides, it's about quality not quantity...

It's possible to beat. It would take most of the West coast. The trick is getting Subaru to promote it in drive magazine every month for six months. Get press releases in every print and online place you can think of. Don't promote it as a bunch of WRX/Race/whatever dorks and you'll have all kinds of Subaru owners crawling out of the woodwork.
So yeah, it's possible. Doubtful that it will happen. I'll mention it to the region, though.

I'd rather have the kind of subies we have right now (at our meet) then have 500 ordinary owners of various models just there for the record... i.e. Non Enthusiasts showing up for the sake of breaking a record... I'd rather have a bunch of enthusiasts.

w0rd, the most Subaru has ever done for us is feature is in a small section of Drive magazine... Lame. I've tried getting Subaru to sponsor us, but they don't like replying to emails so it seems.
