I was responsible... although it was hard

Picked up an 04 STi this weekend, I was driving it tonight on 101N around 11 PM and I was only driving for 15 mins when a Mustang GT w/ exhaust tried to pick a race with me. He kept pacing me at 70 mph, but I didn't want anything to do with it (although the kid in me wanted to drop it to 4th and go... hehe). He eventually got bored and left. How often do you STi owners get picked on to race?

I know exactly how you feel. I get all sorts of funny looks after people pass me cause i'm driving like a granny in the slow lane. Apparently I missed out on the memo that says you must drive it hard all the time.

if it was a 99+ with exhaust (and possibly headers) it would have been a decent race from a roll

yea ... it would've been a good race if the STi is bone stock.

it happens to me all the time. its ridiculous. an evo tried to race me this morning on the bay bridge, i declined. i almost want to print out a spec sheet on the sti and just hand it to all the guys who want to race. yes my car does 0-60 in under 5 secs, yes it pulls 300 horses, no i dont want to burn out my clutch to prove it to you.

this may sound stupid, but since picking up my sti i dont feel the need to drive fast anymore. only when i get a nice curvy section of road do i feel the need and then its really fun! anyone else have the same thing happen to them?

Yeah, it's like when you were younger and felt like you had to be extra macho and prove that you could fight, but now as you are older and know that you can do some great damage, you don't have to (or just don't) act all macho and try to make people afraid of you.

You just know that if/when the time comes, you have the power to deliver an *** spankin' !!!!!

I just like the way some people see me as a cool, relaxed, reserved person, and then they act a fool by getting all ghetto - This is when they set me off and I go ape sh** and feed them a good portion of Elbows and Knees to the face!

Sometimes it's good to get badass in the car, just to show them what the cars are all about. There are quite a few people out there that don't even know there are cars with the name Subaru, and what they are all about.

you're right.

driving fast shouldn't be for proving your power, but to enjoy it for yourself.
