I would recommend that you have a custom box built to fit in the wheel well area.
I'm not sure you have seen/heard the stock sub. IMO it soulds like A$$.
Really it sucks, and I think it could be debateable wheather it sounds better if the car doesn't have one.
There are a few people who have nice custom boxes built - ask around.

actually I recently picked up a stock sub w/harness, and if you adjust the cutoff and the gain on it just right, it provides "acceptable" midbass (not real BUMP!), and they're only like $100 used...

Yeah, I was gonna build a fiberglass box in my spare wheelwell but I don't want the extra weight of the amp, woofers and box. Plus I put my bikes in the back. Plus I'm too lazy. Plus I just want a tiny bit more than I have now. Plus, I heard my buddy's stock sub and that's all I need. I did add Rockford Door speakers.

your other option is to install tranducers under the seats and mount it to a small piece of wood.

he was selling aura pro bass shakers.
a few years ago, in CES, i sat in the demo car for AURA. they were using the regular version then. i spent about 5 minutes listening and then about 10 minutes tearing apart the demo car looking for a real subwoofer. all there were in the car were 4 aura bass shakers...
