I need to borrow some tires...

I'm currently driving on gold Tarmacs with somewhat worn out Kumho MX's, and those just won't cut it for my snowy trip to Colorado. Do any of you guys have a set of all seasons or snow tires that you would be willing to loan me from December 18th-January 4th? We can just swap wheels, I promise not to hurt yours, and you have permission to curb mine all you want . I will be doing about 2400 miles of highway driving on the tires, but I have a different set of wheels/tires that I'm going to put on my car while I'm in Colorado, so yours would be strictly for the drive to and from California. I live in Pacifica, and I'd be happy to drive to you to pick them up.

Anyone who agrees to trade gets a free lunch from yours truly.

Two things stop me from lending you a set of wheels:

1) I don't have any all seasons or snow tires.
2) You have to drive over Donner Pass to pick them up if I had them. Not too helpful.

Otherwise they'd be all yours.

What size wheels do you have, because I have 3 215/45/17 tires for very cheap. (yeah i know 3 isn't exactly the best number, but it's what I have if it helps at all)

Edit: Also, if you can give me the wheels early enough I can mount/balance them for free too.

Thanks for the offer, but I need 4 tires. I'd also rather not dismount my Kumhos since they still have quite a bit of life left in them. I do appreciate it though.

Do they have a lot of tread? I have a feeling I'm going to be driving in some pretty crappy road conditions, and I suppose RE-92's are better than what I have on my car at the moment. I know beggers can't be choosers, so if something better doesn't come along, I may have to take you up on that.

I would have to check, they worked fine for me. About 20,000 miles put on them, 2 are more worn then the others.

If I had to guess, I think like 40-50% on 2 and 60-70% on the other 2?

why not just pick up a set of steelies with snow tires? or a stock set up. Could probably do it for $500 or so.

then you'd have 2 sets.

She has snow tires in Colorado, where she's driving soon- she needs something better than Kumho MXs to get her there is all.

ldivinag, I'm pretty sure they're the old Tarmacs.

I also have my RE-92s on stock wheels and they are practically brand new....maybe a total of 3000 miles on them.....I'm in Campbell.

Mcdrama, I wouldn't want to use tires that aren't worn evenly, I'd fear for my center diff. Thank you though.

Idivinaq, they're Tarmac 1's.

To everyone else with RE-92's, I have a set of RE-92's that I can borrow, but that's kind of a last resort. I prefer not to drive on those tires in the snow unless I absolutely have to, because while they are better than the MX's, they're still somewhat sketchy. If anyone has any snow tires, that's what I'd prefer, otherwise RE-92's it is. Thanks again, everyone.

I have a brand new set of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2s mounted on stock WRX rims. You are welcome to use them for your trip as long as you don't totally thrash them and your car has a reasonable alignment. The only hitch is that I really don't have the storage room for your wheels. You would either have to put them on your car and stash your wheels in the car, or take 'em with you to mount on your car before your trip.

I might be able to meet you in the City very early on a Sunday morning between now and your departure date but I would probably only be in town from about 8:00am to 9:00am. I would need somebody's help to lift the rims/tires from my car. If you want to meet at the regular Saturday Sacramento meet that works for me, too. Or, maybe BAN SUVS can figure out another way to get my wheels/tires to you.

PM me for details, if interested.

If you need a place to store your rims kellie let me know. My garage is empty. (heck you could drive up here and do the swap in my garage if need be) Let me know.
It would save the drive for wingless and it's on your way to the CO.
