She made it sound like i was stranded! uhh hello i have a SUBARU i can go anywhere anytime i want! lol didnt really want to cross over powerlines or have a tree fall on me tho.
So it started at midnight when i was heading home, i chose to drive up Saratoga 9 to 35 to *other censored roads*
Snow was worse than i thought, Cavaliers and other craptastic FWD cars trying to hit me as they try to turn around. I got to the 9/35 summit lot at 12:30 and began to take pictures and rally the lot.
I stayed from midnight to 7AM, i dont know where the time went, oh i know, taking 30 second exposures plus waiting for the timer (i have a ton of pics).
Unfortunately the Subaru owners of the bay area didnt visit be except one old red wagon with a bunch of kids my age. Also a Jeep and an auction cop car RWD came to play a bit. so that was cool. for about an hour there were coyotes behind me just walking around, that was kinda nerve racking. Made friends with some caltrans workers and a garbage man from watsonville with jail tats all over his face and neck...yikes...
Sad that i saw 2 Miatas cross the intersection (6 inches of snow!) at 3 and 4AM and a bmwZ3 but NO Subarus! i saw maybe 1 or 2 Legacies and Foresters, but no one came to play with me at one of the most popular parking lots in the South Bay! shame shame
Then the news van comes up at 4AM and i plan to ask the cameraman a bunch of questions about his career yada yada. Then they want to interview me, of course since im the only one there.
Interview was cool, even though im ironically camera shy. I shout out my subaru and tell the guy to film me snowboarding.
My shoes were soaked the whole time, toes numb but for some reason it didnt bother me after the first hour.
i didnt have a tripod so that sucked, i just used the log posts and my snowboard pants and set the timer.
then i went home. pretty cool day/night/day
Rallying the lot: you know the lot, its like a big whale shape or something, i was doing S turns, but then i got better and could eventually figure 8 it. Scary since it is sloped towards the 9/35 intersection. I probly rallied a good 100 laps, probably 2 hours total. other time was spent taking pictures, driving to talk to cal trans to see what the roads were like, taking video etc.
1 bent steelie on the curb was the only price to pay with inconsistent grip, i got lucky to get out of that one, close to being a lot worse if that curb wasnt there.
more pics and vids to come, but i need to go to bed now with all the other druggies in California.
