Exclamation i made a table!! w00t! (car related material inside)

so i saw some photos online, and decided to go ahead and give this a shot...

all in all it took me about two weeks. i bought the engine on craigslist with a blown headgasket for $60. paint and cleanup stuff from kragen for about $25. i got the table top cut out of 1/2 thick acrylic from tap plastics for $180. everything else was from mcmaster carr totaling about $125 (steel tubing for the legs, bolts, plastic caps, feet, etc)

so for $400+/- i now have this beast chillin in my man cave...

(photos go with the build)

start, tear down...

stuff i didnt use...

mostly cleaned up block...

after deep cleaning and fresh paint...

along with my first set of legs (too ugly)...

begin assembly and legs take 2...

almost there...

just need glass...

the final product...

great success!

hope you guys like. its a cast iron chevy smallblock, so its heavy as all hell, but i love it...

photobucket fail but i know what you did. There was a similar thread on Nasoic where someone used their old 2.0 for a table when they swapped to a 2.5

I've done a couple of those. I should do another. You can use all sorts of car parts to make all sorts of cool furniture.

Very nice. How much does it weight? It would be pain to move if it's heavy as it looks.
