My ex-mother-in-law bought a hayburner for $140k a few years back. Talk about something that costs as much as a house (well, in some parts of the country) and depreciates faster than a car!

yeah, but if you get a young one (I think hers was $15k) and train it, and do well in shows for a season, the price goes way up. THe other weekend was the horse's second show and three people offered to buy it, two of which said to "name a price." If he does well this show season and goes to nationals and does well there too, they could sell it for up to 75k :-\ thats a 60k increase (not including vet bills, training, yada yada yada).
