Hey!!! You forget that even though you all have performance cars... you still have a Subaru. These things are tough.

I will definitely keep the car and swap in a new engine. Like Marc said, though, it's a subie, so the engine will probably live forever, fortunately or unfortunately. No reason to get rid of it unless it's rusted out.

Some day, new heart, new paintjob, new stuff if possible. It will be my "antique" even if it's not going to be a car people remember.
If I had to sell my car to save the trouble and stress.. a Legacy GT Ltd. Sedan or a WRX STi would be awesome... but who knows what's out there by then... we might be using major hybrid technology...

Yeah, this is my first new car. I had a Maverick, then a Maxima that lasted forever. 275,000 miles and the only reason I got rid of it was because the master cylinder died and they wanted $2,000 to fix that and some other things.
i have 60000 on 2002 wagon. I hope they are tough but mine is using some oil.
The dealer checked it and declared it "normal" which I take to mean "normal enough its not worth bothering with a warranty claim"
It's completely stock and I've had the oil changed betheween 3 and 5k. Some spirited backroad driving but no track or drag, mostly freeway.
Not sure exactly how much its using but when the dealer did the oil monitor it seemed to stay full for the first 2000 miles then plumetted .5 a quart after weekend of spirited backroads driving. That appears to be from the full line/hole to the fill line/hole.
This may be "normal" but I'm a little disappointed. Means I have to check the oil and top off between oil changes dang it
Anyone having similar experience?
