I was planning for quite some time to get Hankook's RS2 Z212 or whatever tires in 245/40-17's and DiscountTireDirect.com's stock kept changing, however I was told I could special order them. I finally special ordered them last week or the week before but they couldn't get the 245's, so I settled for the 225's. Their reasoning (as vague as it was) was that the tire must not exist because it wasn't in their system. I know its not in their system......thats why I'm SPECIAL ordering it. So I settled for the narrower size. TireRack.com has never carried this product and I was told I could not special order them.

Today I got TireRack.com's mailer thing. I rarely ever look at them but my girlfriend was doing something so I browsed through it.

Yeah, they just started to carry the RS2 Z212's.

Yeah, they have them in 245/40-17.

Yeah, the 245/40-17's are cheaper than the 225/45-17's from DTD.

Yeah, when I return the sales managers call on Monday (he called me because I complained of the lack of ability to make a true special order) I will inform him that I'll be getting them from TireRack.com in the future.

 

Dude, why don't you just get them from the Tireshoppe.com guy. You even asked him and he quoted you as well. The size I was looking for, 235/40/17 were $106 a piece + 10.50 per a tire to ship.

 

because I had a discount code for $100 off at DTD.com and I forgot about tireshoppe.com

and he must have quoted you special shipping because on that website shipping for 4 245's is $106 compared to $43 from TireRack
