People in Marin, in case you didn't know, like things a certain way. The bucolic idyll and unsurpassed quality of life that they enjoy was not created in a day, and they do not take kindly to interlopers who get too wacky with their marketing techniques. Therefore the owners of Pizza Orgasmica, whose fourth location was set to debut this week in San Rafael, are facing some serious flack from neighbors for the shade of DayGlo canary that they chose for their restaurant's facade, as the Marin Independent Journal reports. Residents are so put off, in fact (with one lady getting in a dig about the name, joking, "What’s next, Tacos Fellatio?") that the opening is being held until the town can have a Design Review Board meeting about the color. Look for the place to take on a more civilized, pastel hue sometime soon.

I think this is retarded. Sure, it may not look good to most, but what gives anyone the right to demand a business to choose what color it paints its location?!?! Can they actually legally force them to do that?!

The residents of San Rafael seem too butthurt, overly conservative, or something, because I think it's going too far to force a business to change their color. I would understand if it had something as provoking as pornographic images, but none of that is there (well, the title is a bit pushy, but I think it's fine).

The naysayers campaign probably driven by the same person who wrote the letter to Sol Food in San Rafael complaining about their idyllic hamlet being ruined by a bright green facade. I for one am glad that Pizza Orgasmica is opening in my town, and I hope they do what Sol Food did: keep it painted the colors they chose, and post the angry letter by the entrance.

butthurt and overly conservative would be a good ddescription of most marin county residents...lot of older people too, it seems no one can drive over 50mph on 101

its just a color of a building...are they gonna ban bright yellow cars now too?

saw this on the news last night, utterly ridiculous. one person was quoted as saying they were "sickened" by the color of the building... are you f-ing kidding me?? some people these days seriously need to grow up and get a life. there are far worse problems in this world than the building color of a pizzeria.

I think there are laws keeping people from painting their houses ridiculous colors/polka dots in some areas, but this is a business and honestly the color scheme is not the worst I have seen.

Depends on if the businesses have something similar to a home owners association, where owners can only paint their houses certain colors.

It's ridiculous in Marin. There's an awesome Puerto Rican Restaurant in downtown San Rafael and they have 2 locations just like Pizza Orgasmica (just more lime green). They got flack from the neighbors when they opened.

The cool thing is that by the front door; they post some of the complaints/letters that people wrote to them about their choice of color for their establishment. Some of them are utterly ridiculous and makes you wonder about whats in their water...

Reminds me of when Talbots was opening up in Los Gatos and the committee responsible for approving the new stores made them tone down their red doors before they were allowed to open up in downtown. 1. That has become a trademark for the store and 2. it is a friggen door. Now I think that is ridiculous.

That is just one example about Los Gatos being unreasonable and wanting to keep a very narrow profile of what is let into the town.

I wouldn't call Marin "conservative", I'd say it's in fact quite the opposite. Except for maybe North Marin. As much as I loved living in Marin, I had to gtfo as it really got to me after a while. Still love it very much though and may live there again some day, just some of the people there nowadays.. MAN.

It used to not be like this IMO.
