I hate the bankees!
I am so tired of seeing the yankees interviews and what not. I hate them.
I'm sorry but if you have a payroll over $200 million dollars and signed to guy with total contracts over $300 million combined in one offseason then you BETTER win the world series.
I mean seriously...
highest paid players in baseball...
1. A Rod $275,000,000
2. Jeter $189,000,000
3. Texiera $180,000,000
4. CC $161,000,000
So the top 4 contracts in baseball... Oh wait in ALL sports are playing on one team... and that's just 4 guys.
Their season team salary was almost $100,000,000 more than the phillies and the phillies are the 7th highest. The Marlins are $36,000,000. Hell ARod pretty much makes that himself.
I don't understand why there is no salary cap in baseball. I mean the team that spends the most money has by a HUGE margin the most world series rings... by a HUGE margin. What does that tell you. The last 9 years make me laugh. There is NO excuse for spending that much money and not winning. NO EXCUSE.
I don't understand why steroids is such a huge issue but money isn't. I mean seriously... the money caused the steroid issue. If you can get into that top set of guys even just long enough to sign the contract you stand to make hundreds of millions of dollars instead of a couple million dollars over your careers. It's a hundred million dollar gamble. This needs to be addressed.
I know the flip side... if you're charging huge money and selling out and the TEAM is making billions then why not share that with the players. Sure yeah that makes sense but it's more about competitive balance for me. There is a reason that baseball is quickly sliding down the popularity list of sports. No one cares until the post season these days.
Maybe stop charging hundreds of dollars for seats so regular people can go to games. Or have a salary cap and a profit sharing system. I don't know. But something needs to change.

Hey I don't care, this is all about money making.
Would you say the same if your favorite team was winning with high profile players?
Fortunately I like the Yankees (Originally from the East
).

There is a reason why the Bankee's could only manage 80% occupancy. They over priced their seats so the real fans won't be able to attend games. Only the fake wall street fans go.
And would I care if my Phillies spend that much and won, probably not. Does that make it fair? Hell no!

there is no revenue sharing in baseball as we all know. This is why baseball is no longer Americas pastime and football is. The reason is every year your team has a "chance" Look at the broncos this year, who would of thunk it. But you will never see the royals win a world series or even in the playoffs.

it isn't like the league isn't getting paid for the yankees having a huge payroll...the luxury tax that get's paid to the league is insane. yankees paid almost 27M alone this year

Yeah, but more from the memories of my childhood than the present day team, going to games when I was a kid with my mom and such. The Mets I remember was Mookie Wilson, Lenny Dykstra, Gooden, Johnson and those guys.
I don't really follow any pro sport anymore, but I'll go see the Mets when they come through to play SF and loosely keep an eye our for their scores throughout the season.
