I got cut off and ended up in my backseat

Well almost anyway...

I'm leaving from my mother's house who lives off calvine rd next to sheldon highschool around 3pm, so school JUST got out and those little sh*ts are leaving the parking lot.

I pass the school and out of knowhere this little highschool chick in a Orange Mazdaspeed protege (it had to be a protege) pulls in front of me when im goin about 45mph so i SLAM my breaks to avoid hitting her.

The momentum of my body going back into my front seat ripped the two lower hinges from the seat frame (i believe these are the same bolts Matt aka Sonicsuby had a problem with). I'm now helpless with my knees above the steering wheel and my body and head litteraly touching the rear seat. This is flatout DANGEROUS eventhough i maintained control i was blind

So i looked under the seat once i got home and noticed it's an easy repair seeing how all i have to do is re-install the two bolts that gave-out from underneath. Nothing appeared to be stripped so i figure they slowly worked their way loose. and nothing broke in the seat itself because the seat stayed at a 100 degree angle during the incident

I thought i'd throw this out to anyone that has a little extra time to spare this weekend to take off you front seat at those points and get longer bolts so they can be secured with a nut.

Just didn't want anyone to get killed in a similar situation. Plus it'll give you a reason to go work on your car without feeling guilty.

No, thank god... if you look under your seat you'll see a seperate bracket just behind and under the bolt you showed.

Use 'blue' Loctite thread sealant (part number 242, I think). It won't loosen under normal circumstances.

i dont want to sound like an *** but..what were u doing going 45 around a school? isnt there a law that says the speed limit is 15 when u're around a school? and especially when school just got out..there are probably a lot of people..well at my school the streets are packed and..its just..u dont wanna be near there. good thing nothing too serious happened, and that ur ok, but...well...laws are tehre to keep the streets safe.

Well I have a high-school by my house off of a main byway thats a 40mph zone without any "slow down for children" signs, so its not a rarity or anything.

This is true but on Calvine road (a fairly busy 3 lane road) there's nothing posted about 15-25mph. only 45mph.. i noticed this myself...

Are you a crossing gaurd or something?

The speed limit near schools is 25mph when children are present, and only when the limits are posted. Otherwise, the primary speed limit stays in effect.

oh hey ur right, the speed limit is 25, oops, my fault...i got the numbers mixed. i looked at the dmv handbook, and it atually says "no matter what the speed limit sign states, you should never drive faster than 25 mph when the school ground has no fence and children are outside"

....but then again, i dunno what happend with sisq, and i dont think this applies to highschools because...they should know better..and this law is for the little kids that doesnt know better and plays in the street. and yeah..i thikn they should make it harder to get a license..cuz a lot of people dontk now how to drive...and most people should wait till college to get their license..and the only few that should get their license during highschool are the exceptional drivers.
