You'd think it'd be the STi to claim that spot since STi parts can be swapped onto the 2.5i/TR/WRX.

yeah, but the evo motor swaps into all DSMs and other evos that blow their motors or bust their trannys =P

Not true, the Evo engine is oriented the opposite way of the old DSMs so it does not fit. Only Evo 3 and older engines fit DSMs.

Note, the study is about "Theft Claims" so it doesn't have to be the whole car being stolen. More like parts, car stereos, wheels etc.

Yeah, but the people with the knowledge to custom fab parts, swap a motor and wire it into a totally different car aren't the ones out looking to steal one.

Not to mention STI seats and a number of parts can still go into older Imprezas and some cases, other Subarus.

 

I think it car theft claims, not parts claims.

on that note, i wonder how many of those claims on EVO's where really people crashing their cars and then claiming them as stolen.
