I do not feel safe in my wagon...
When I am driving the jeep I have no urgency to go anywhere. I drive slowly on the idea to save gas, going about 65-70 miles per hour ish. I kick back and relax, don't gun it, and don't weave through traffic much.
However, I scare myself sometimes when I am driving my Saabaru wagon. Man, does the rolling 5mph to 60 to 80 feels good, then I have to slow down, I love freeway on ramps, and I tend to push 80 on the freeways and weave though traffic much more.
By no means do I drive like an idiot. I get comments like you drive like a "grandma" when I am in LA, especially in the Jeep, because I don't care to drive fast. But man driving the WRX really changes the style of driving for me(maybe its adrenaline shifting gears or because car actually responds when I step on the gas).
Anyone have the same problem?
Do you drive another car completely differently?
whats the point of this thread? Just another waste of precious bandwith

When I commuted in a Prius this summer, I drove 65mph or less in the right lane to save gas. In the Subaru, I go 75-80 and drive in the left lane. so you're about normal. some cars are more confidence-inspiring than others. the prius has 185-width A/s tires on it whereas the STi has 200 treadwear 255 width RT615's, and disc front/drum rear vs. Brembos all around... a lot more to work with if things get sketchy. Also the Subaru is fun to drive fast vs. the Prius is fun to drive slow for max economy.

I am the complete opposite. When my WRX was in the shop and I was driving my girlfriends 03 civic LX, I made the tires squel around turns, layed on the throttle, manually shifted the auto transmission, and made it get horrible gas mileage.
When I was driving the civic I would get about 280miles per tank.
When I drive my WRX and getting on it, I get between 240-260 miles between fill ups and my AFRs are about 10-10.5:1.
If I want to get good fuel economy in my WRX, I shift at 3K RPM, no boost, and get about 300-340 miles per tank depending on how much highway driving I do.
Screw fuel economy! If you want good mileage, get a motorcycle. Or a smart car when they finally come to the states.

In my 2.5 liter i go about 80 @3400 rpms and get 22 MPG
in my miata i would drive 80 @4000 rpms and get 21 MPG
then.................................65 @3250 rpms and get 31 MPG

i drive my suby pretty conservatively on the streets. but i love freeway on-ramps and i usually accelerate on some curves rather than slow down. about 80 is normal for me on the freeway. now when my gf is driving in her 01' accord, she kind of scares me, b/c i think she has picked up some of my "bad habits." i notice things like body roll and brake response (or the lack thereof) alot more. thank goodness for those handles near the roof!

lol
