That would be neat AWDfreak!

Only issue is im completely out of shape, that ride would be insanely killer for me :(

But i agree, rides get lonely and most my friends are busy when im free >.<

Anyone have a short distance trip, roughly 10miles round trip? Maybe the people who like longer distance can take an alternative route.
I have one that's about 10 miles. It's super mellow.

AWDfreak 08-09-2012 12:09 AM

Here's a great place for mapping bike rides... but it asks for a decent bit of personal info....

As for 10 miles, I think it takes 10 miles already to get where you are to Los Gatos. So aiming 5 miles away from your location would be a good bet. Google Maps has a decent bike navigation setup already if you look up biking directions

Hmm.... The longest trip i have done when i was fit was from Los Altos Downtown, through fremont older to Highway 9 to the top. Then all the way back down and back to Downtown Los Altos. equated to about 50miles..

I think for now since we will have time to discuss our meet location, I will hit up Shoreline trails in mountain view and get back in shape, and hit up some 20mile+ trails :)

Anyone want to join some shoreline rides for now?

I'm down for mountain rides... santa teressa sounds good, Saratoga gap anyone?

theoutbackdream 08-09-2012 12:45 AM

^YES I've always wanted to do Saratoga Gap, but never had the guts to go as i've read you can get lost real easy

AWDfreak 08-09-2012 12:46 AM

I'm up for any riding but.. myself and I MAY need a ride there if it's too far away.

Thankfully, Mountain View isn't far but if there's a far meet location, I don't have a Subaru to drive around in...

OutbackDream, I think we may have a similar fitness level if the longest you've done is 50 miles. I've done about the same.

Oh, anyone crazy enough to do urban night rides like I do?

DSav408 08-09-2012 12:49 AM

Please tell me more about these, urban night rides.

theoutbackdream 08-09-2012 12:49 AM

Ah, darn. I'd give you a lift, but don't have bike rack, and my 26" barely fits in my hatchback

Thats awesome :D but then again, if your carrying that 50lbs worth of stuff... o.O At most i carry 10lbs. thats Tools, repair parts, 4 water bottles, snack and some other things.

Eh, just random go-wherever around the South Bay and Peninsula during nighttime. Riding a bike is fun, but even more interesting when you see the way cities feel at night on a bike. It's always interesting :)

If you have crossbars, I already have a bike rack (Yakima Forklift).

As for my gear, I carry 50lbs primary for overkill preparation plus more weight to lug around = more calories burned.

EDIT: I have a hardtail, technical terrain plus my gear is difficult to deal with, but still do-able.

And as both personal preference and because of my bike holding me back, I enjoy twisty singletrack without excessive elevation change. I'm still up for climbing if I know there's more fun singletrack to be found.

Na wish i had crossbars. I tried researching them, and the cost for what im going to use them for just didnt make sense to me. Also Heedz got me out of one due to the insults he has gotten

Makes sense. Only issue is that I Cramp pretty easy right above my knees, and when it does, HURTS so much. This is one of the reasons I try to stay light.

Hmmm well I think 2 mountain bikes can fit fine in the back of an Impreza hatch just fine with the front tires off. Yay quick release axles!

Well, the only issue i dont want to create is the damage caused by laying 2 bikes side by side on top each other. my 26er will not stand vertical, and must be on its side in order to fit :(
