I would be interested in doing Onroad too, but my stamina level for continuous on-road is utter crap.

Let's hit up rocky ridge in the santa teresa trails, we can get a couple extra people and shuttle.

:also down for some road cruises or mellow trails.

Down for mtn or even some road with my mtn. But nothing crazy. I'm up for some easy to medium mtn.

Yup only got a road bike. If I had a mountain bike of course!

I only have road at the moment, but if this idea is still jumping around for mountain come next year, I will be down for both.

That said, I am down for some good road riding. In fact, I am planning on doing 70-80 miles this Friday if anyone wants to join in. Try to get out somewhat early to beat the heat of the day.

I am like a freight truck. Everyone wants to get behind me on the flats, but will pass me up on the uphills.

OMG OMG PICK ME! I'm the one with the lame nerdy-looking just-came-outta-the-dumpster bike!

I've been thinking about group rides, because sometimes it gets lonely riding my bike for 20-40 miles of enjoying the Bay Area.

How about we meet up somewhere (idk, Palo Alto or SOMETHING) and just ride around mostly pavement around the Bay Area (I prefer the South Bay and Peninsula) since some don't have mountain bikes... unless someone has some kind of route planned.

I ride with about 50lbs of gear in my panniers, so I can be a support bike with basic tools and such. If anyone needs to pack extra tools and/or parts, I most certainly can take some of it.

My rough plan is to start in Campbell, ride up to Foothill, then get into the hills from there and maybe up Kings Mountain or Old La Honda or something like that. Haven't really mapped out my route yet.

AWDfreak 08-08-2012 11:24 PM

Well I don't know if I can do 70-80 miles with the stuff I carry (and I ride a mountain bike). Also, because of my frayed front derailleur cable (will get that fixed maybe next week), I can't ride particularly as fast as I would usually cruise at.

I'm not a huge fan of climbing, but I can... just REALLY SLOWLY with all my gear.

kyle16 08-08-2012 11:53 PM

Hah, well, if you drop all the panniers, the you will go faster.

theoutbackdream 08-08-2012 11:53 PM

That would be neat AWDfreak!

Only issue is im completely out of shape, that ride would be insanely killer for me :(

But i agree, rides get lonely and most my friends are busy when im free >.<

Anyone have a short distance trip, roughly 10miles round trip? Maybe the people who like longer distance can take an alternative route.

But... but... I LIKE my panniers! :faint:

I can't drop them. Sure, they add drag and weight, but I would much rather ride prepared than without tools and stuff.

Hmmm, seems we may have to divide riders amongst groups if we get enough people.

10 miles-ish or less - casual group
20-40 miles-ish - trekking group
40+ miles-ish - holy crap the athletes and all group

If I had a road bike, I could probably be in the third group.

So based on a 3-endurance-level scale, one would have to plan a route that starts at the same place, but loops around back at 3 forks. (if we get enough people)
