I call BS: "always change oil every 3k mi with synthetic, 91oct"
I've been following subie's on craiglist for awhile and besides inflated prices, I see this (or something like it) "always changed oil every 3000mi with M1/purple/etc full synthetic and 91oct gas" (even though it's an RS)

probably truth? from what ive seen, we do beat our cars and abuse them but we also take good care of them as far as maintenance. i know i did. ams oil 5w30 every 2500 miles and motul and 91+ all the time.

when it comes to modded cars you never know unless you did it yourself. then there is the whole my 03 has 50k miles when you know for a fact that it takes 5mins to change the cluster out.

Thats us though, we are enthusiasts. I know people that change their oil every 10-20 thousand miles. If that. And when they sell their car I am sure they will probably say they did every 5k miles.

One of my customers owns a maserati but his daily driver is a pos ford explorer. He hasnt changed oil on it for about 5years and I would say he drives it atleast 25miles a day. He just keeps adding oil.

I got a 04 (got in 03) with 60k and never a new cluster...
and yes most people that are into cars change the oil every 3000 miles. I know I do mine less like before and after a track day and every 6 month 3000 miles or not

i change the oil every 2k miles with Motul 300v Race Oil and used Amsoil Synthetic Oil Filter, thats about $100 oil change

my other alternate was doing oil change every 1k miles using Dino Castrol and using Wix oil filter

yes im crazy about oil
and i also changed my spark plugs every 6k miles lol
with only 35k on it i did about 6 - 7 coolant change ( tho i was using only straight Distilled Water )

ask for their records> If they are **** enough to change oil that often, then hopefully they are **** enough to keep records. If dates dont add up then call them out for an explaination or walk.
