What the ****? Is it possibly to apply for citizenship at this point? I'll do some digging around as I'm pretty good at finding loop holes. Really sucks man, good luck.

What!? That is freaking insane! Screw them! You live a better life than 90% of Americans, yet because of something you did half you life ago you're getting the boot? What a stupid system.

That is really scary. I can't believe they charged you with a felony for $5 of weed. You should be able to stay here b/c of your wife and kids...right?

My gf is a canadian citizen and I have been urging her to get dual citizenship for a while now. I'm going to send her this for a little motivation.

Good luck!

Sorry for the situation man. I've had two friends of my family in the same situation pretty recently. A friend of my mother in law never paid taxes in american and is a canadian citizen. He was in america for 30 years and worked as a free lance writer. He was deported and can't come back to america because he owes over $230,000 in unpaid taxes. Another friend of the family has spent over $30k on lawyer fees to get citizenship but he has a drunk driving and wreckless endangerment on his record from the 80's. If he can't get citizenship he won't be able to return to america if he leaves. My wife works for the us attorneys office and this is happening to a lot of people in the last 2-3 years.

Good luck.

God damn Huck that's one messed up story. I wish you the best of luck, hopefully you get a good lawyer! It's things like this that make me eager to leave the U.S.

So true.

This EXACT same thing is happening to my friend from Israel but he is royally screwed because of another recent offense that he somehow got his hands dirty over as a bystander. His first offense was something weak he did at 20yrs old when he first came to the US. Truly a great guy that would bend over backwards for anyone… There’s no doubt he’ll never come to the US now. The idiot did not have a green card though, so… he screwed himself.

Huck, the fact your family is in the US and the fact you have had US resident status may be your ticket to stay. I'm sure you'll work this out in the end. Also, I wouldn't post this type of thing on the internet, Huck. At least make it non-accessible from your homepage and take it down before it's cached.
