How to tell if bride seat are fake?

Well I just wanted to know is there anything to look out for when buying them? any info?

MonsterGC 05-30-2010 02:15 AM

if they dont creak its fake! lol no seriously that is what ppl say

JelloChex 05-30-2010 03:23 AM

I'm not sure if the Fake ones have the FIA sticker on them or not (I think that is the correct sticker, could be wrong though).

I don't know how all fakes are but i've seen fakes that you can tell by closely looking at stitching and logo placement. Often times you will notice a few or many abnormalities in the placement and stitching. Also try to look for one of those genuine stickers.

i've heard that real ones are made in japan... fake ones say another country?

rau 05-30-2010 09:41 AM

Its in the stitching. Seen a few fakes and one real one in my time

Bride seats aren't all that great... They are JDM and all, but they make a ton of noise (like someone else said) and cost a lot of money! Why not go for a Sparco or Recaro? Better support for those seats too and the Brides tend to run small.

Did you know that they are actually pronounced "Brid"? Not "BrIde"?

It seemed like it was "Canada" was where the Fake Brides were coming from.

There is an image showing some plastic 'button' things and other small details which help you tell between the fakes and the real ones.

And do $1k seats really squeak? :suspicious:

fizay 05-30-2010 01:41 PM

I haven't had to much experience with fixed backs, but IMO Recaros > all.

LOL_VTEC 05-30-2010 01:43 PM

Instead of saying "Bride" on the seat they say "3ride"

Generally Euro > all.

Funny, many of the uber JDM parts on my car have given me problems, all the US/Euro stuff, none.

And lets not get into Subaru's build quality on the STi. I think a Ford Fiesta more refined. :barf:

Yeah im getting recaros, but i was just checking out some brides for my friend and I thought I could get some useful info on here haha :]

Thanks everyone for the imput
