How to remove front bumper?

Hi all.

Sorry about the noob question. I was wondering what I would have to do in order to remove the front bumper off my '97 Impreza L. I think I need to remove it to check a loose wire to my right side foglights. Probably also to pull it out and install new bulbs to those things. Any help is greatly appreciated.

TIA.

It's really easy, and you shouldn't need to pull the bumper to change bulbs. To pull the bumper, remove the screws on the bottom on both sides, remove the plastic shielding, remove the screw where the fender meets the bumper on the rear edge, then remove the grille (flat head screw driver to move tabs, takes 30 seconds) and sidemarker lights (1 screw each, pull these first as they attach to the headlights), headlights (4 screws, very easy) and then undo the clips along the top edge of the bumper. Wiggle it around to make sure you didn't miss anything.

Drop me a line if you have any probs. I have pulled bumpers off every Impreza generation except '04+.

Cool. Thanks wombat. One set of my foglights are dead, and I have a feeling that I'll need to pull the lamp out somehow to replace them.
