In cali, If you get a speeding ticket, you can take the class for the first one, and it doesn't go on your record. You can take the class every 18 months, so that means you are "allowed" a ticket every 18 months If you don't take the class or get another ticket you get a point. Depending on the severity of the ticket it can be a different number of points. A regular speeding ticket is 1 pt.

1 point violations remain on your license for 1 year, 2 point violations remain for 7(reckless driving, DUI, speed contest, and nasty things like that) If you get 4 points in a year you lose your license(6pts in in 2 yrs, or 8pts in 3 years)

1 point won't effect your insurance. 2 and up do.

Tell that to my insurance company. They won't automatically re-rate you until 2, but if you buy a new car, or change something on your policy they will re-rate you, and 1 point will affect your insurance, mine is $500 more a year from a single ticket of 58mph in a 45.

Anytime you get a point, your insurance will be rerated. Depending on your age, there are factors used to calculate how much. Unfortunate for us, the WRX and STi did get adjusted due to the fact the car is really a high performance vehicle. Although, I just got a quote for an 05 STi that is only $10 higher than my 03 WRX. I am paying about $100 a month right now, but I have my house and 3 other cars on the policy with adjustments for being with Farmers for over 10 years.

My total monthly for all cars are $300. 100K/300K for BI and PD and $120/$200 comp/coll on all except for liability only on the AE86.

Try checking rates with Progressive, Nationwide, Wawanesa and already mentioned Mercury.

crazy. I'm with mercury. I asked my adjuster about it and he said no effect for 1 point.

I had 3 when I started with the company.

yes, and DEFINITELY no effect for 1 or 2 points... if you have 0 speeding tickets and 3 claims over $750, it's 3 points.

That sounds too good to be correct, but I would not complain .

All the insurance companies I have underwritten for all apply points at renewal time if you are lucky enough to be reviewed.
