Post How much is your car insurance?

I've bought my 05 WRX STi last month and I've always thought that I had insurance taken care of. But, I was wrong and been driving it for the whole month without an insurance. Anyway, I asked for an insurance quote from AAA and wOw... it will cost me $9,000+ a year.

I do have a 1 point record against my DMV, which I received from a speeding ticket 2 years ago. I still have one more year to go in order for this record to be cleared.

For those that have records... how much do you pay for your insurance with this car? I'm a little surprise with their quote and I was not expecting this much. But I did consider the cost of the insurance with this before buying the car, only I didn't expect this much and I thought that my record was cleared.

I just want to see where I stand on this? See if everyone else have the same rate for having records. Otherwise, I will go ahead and look around for a cheaper insurance.

I pay about $100 a month for my 04" WRX. I have State Farms with no points on my record. I have been driving for a good 9 years so I got the good driver discount. I also have renter insurance with State farms so I got a discount with that too

Dang! Double Dang!! $9K a year!!! Man I thought I was paying too much. I pay $1800 a year for full coverage on my 03 wrx. No points on my record but I'm under my mom's insurance policy so I can get all the discounts she has. If I was to get my own insurance policy, which I plan to do when I turn 25 next year, they quoted me $4K to $5k to get it right now, should be cheaper after I turn 25.

Shoot... I guess that's way overpriced! Switching would be the best move to get me a lower and affordable insurance. I almost fainted when I got the quote from AAA.

Any recommendations for an affordable, reasonable car insurance? I've heard State Farms is one of the affordable ones.

Try Mercury Insurance - they are much less costly than State Farm, for example.

$1400/yr for my '02 sedan...$100k/300k coverage and $100 deductible. i was quoted $1k/yr if i increase my deductible to $500.

this is with 21st century insurance. i intend to switch to AMEX so that i can do a packaged policy with my house insurance.

$960 a year. Full coverage. $500 deductable. 100/300k. 04'wrx sedan. With state farm for 11 years so i get a diso**** for that and multiple vehicle discount for my truck, and my motorcycle. State Farm is pretty good. They are more expensive without that "loyalty" discount but if you stick with them they treat you right.

when you bought your car did they quote you a different premium? I think AAA re-evalutated the STi insurance. I got a big premium raise as well(it was just a few dollars more per year for my 05 STi than my WRX but the new version is quite bit more than that). By the way is it 3 years for tickets on the DMV? I thought it was 3 years for accidents but longer for tickets. Ask AAA to tell you when they will take the point off your record (AAA has an internal point system indepedent from the DMV point system).

Cheers

Nick

AAA and Allstate suck big time. I have 21st... I've looked into AAA, Allstates, 21st, Mercury, Farmers, Progressive, and Geico (sp?). With my car, age, record, location (02RS, 24, 1 ticket, Fremont) (back 9 months ago when I still have my suby ) 21st was the cheapest. And it was $1600 full-cover for a year.
