how much for snowboarding? and where?

okay, so I've never gone snowboarding before so I don't know jack. How much would it cost per person per day not including food and transportation (equipment, the thing that takes you up the hill or whatever you call it )? Where would be a good place to go for beginners? How well would my almost bald re92 do on my way there? I do have a set of almost new Falken Azenis. But don't know how well that would do either due to lack of thread. Thanks in advance!

if you haven't gone boarding, i would suggest kirkwood...the resort is big enough for most riders of various levels and they have a packaged deal for equipment & beginner pass for ~$60. another thing that i like is that their bunny slope is fairly lengthy with not too steep of a grade.

re92's did okay for me...just don't try any WRC drifting with it. if they're bald, i don't know...other members have said they're horrible when bald.

hope that helps you somewhat!

oh...and wear a wrist brace when you start

$36 for a day. Good hills for beginners.

If you want to go on the cheap and board virtually the same snow as Sugar Bowl, go to http://www.donnerskiranch.com/
You can board for $20 and on Wenedsdays I think it is $10.

This place is perfectly set-up for beginners. The bunny slopes are right up front, and aren't far from the car. And if you are going to be on your a$$ all day like most beginners, why pay $60 for a lift ticket when you can pay on the cheap and learn. Then when you are confident and can board, go to the more expensive places to utilize the entire mountain.

I bring all of my beginner snowboard friends to Donner Ski Ranch first, before anywhere else.

i believe he needs equipment rental as well. if you want dirt cheap, why not boreal on fridays for $10? rent your equipment from your hometown and you'll have an entire package for $40.

small parks are nice for beginners, but if he goes with friends, they might want to board for more than 3 minutes before they unclick for the lift again.

hot damn! you guys are fast with good replies. THANKS! I'll check out these two. We might be up there for 2-3 days. So most likely need a place to stay too. So which ever is closer, cheaper, easier, we'll take that one. Thanks again!

Yeah, summer tires are going to be even more dangerous than worn RE92's. They turn into hard plastic at low temps.

first time on the mtn, get on the lift and go to the top. i know it might seem like a huge task but it will force u to learn. and learn a lot faster. it also helps if you are going with some friends that already know how to board. then they can teach u the basics and then u can learn falling all the way down the hill.

I'd say that Sierra at Tahoe is the most friendly to Snowboarders. I remember paying around $50 bucks the last time I went (and rented). Also, if you are under 23, there is a young adult ticket price, so you don't have to pay for the adult pass.

Kirkwood would do you well too, but I haven't been there in a while, so I can't comment on prices.

I wouldn't suggest Heavenly for a budget constrained begineer. But then again, I'm baised and I've never had fun there.

There is some good stuff on the north shore too, but I don't know much about it, so take the advice of those posting above. Heard good things about Boreal and Sugar Bowl, but no direct experience myself.
