How much for reprogrammed key fob & new key from dealership?

My car has been dropped off now to get the ej20 conversion. Since I'll be using a newer wrx wiring harness I'll need to get my key fob reprogrammed and get a new key to go with it. I have the new immobilizer code written down fyi.

About how much will the dealership charge me to do this? Oh and Henry if your reading this let me know if u can get a discount.

Thanks!

Is your transmitter the square unit (H7110AS020), or is it the rounded one (88036AE060)? There are different procedures for programming each one. If it is the former, then you can't use that transmitter on the current (newer) WRX wiring harness. I have the programming instructions for each at work.

The new key? That might present an issue. I can cut keys by tracing the old one with no problem, however, if it's a key by VIN, I need the registration and license of the person who owns the vehicle. If it's a transplant, then you might have difficulties. IIRC, you would have to have a transplant from an '05 in order to need an immobilizer key.

The ECU has nothing to do with the keyless entry system. Your square remote (with orange and blue buttons) will work on either, provided that they're programmed. Stop by, and I'll gladly give you the instruction sheet.

AFAIK, the '04 doesn't have an immobilizer key, does it? I sell STi keys to guys with '04's, and they haven't had a problem with them.

On the little immobilizer box which was part of the wiring harness there was a 9 character code, it starts with a letter and has 8 numbers following. I was told thats the code that needs to get programmed to my key fob and for making the new key. But I don't get if my key is actually going to be cut differently, if that was the case all my locks would have to be changed right?

If you want you can replace the tumblers, but that should not be needed.

The 05+ model Imprezas are the ones with the imobilizer security system.
I am pretty sure that the instructions I posted are just for keyless entry, but if the security system is installed then maybe that will work.

Where is Charlie Yeo? He knows a lot about the keyless entry and security system of the car. I wish he still worked at the Santa Cruz dealership.

btw, is this a JDM or USDM wiring harness? The 02-04 USDM harness should not have an imobilizer, not sure about the JDM ones though. Since they always get the cool stuff first, they may have had an imobilizer on the 04.

Its a USDM 04 harness. I think I'll just go buy a STI key and try to take that and my key fob to the dealer.

Call me up. I have a free key fob for you, if you feel like coming down to Santa Cruz to pick it up. It should work with your current configuration. If you are willing to come down, I'll program it for you....free.

All I ask in return is for you to refer some customers to me, if they are in the market for a used vehicle. Here is a link to our website (edited).
